Just because I am discussing the issue doesn't mean I am passionate about the issue.

And whilst the Supreme Court ruling on Roe vs Wade hurt the Republicans in the recent midterms, I'm not sure it was a bigger factor than Biden's unconstitutional bribe on Student Debt Relief that got smacked down AFTER the midterms.
can you specify where exactly in the constitution it prohibits student loan forgiveness?

The latest: More than a dozen GOP lawmakers vote against McCarthy

As Republicans witness Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) lose on the first ballot, one GOP lawmaker is staying positive, noting, “nothing will clear until after Round 3.”

Buckle up, folks, it will be many more hours if they are right.

Interesting fact about line of succession of US Pres:
1) VP
2) Speaker House <currently empty>
3) Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.), as president pro tempore, is third in line for the presidency as there is no speaker of the House.
Until the House sorts out this vote for speaker, the line of presidency runs through the Senate’s presiding officer.

19 Republicans vote against McCarthy for House speaker

McCarthy complained after all his compromises, the Freedom Caucus/ultra conservatives kept on moving the goal posts. Lulz
Welcome to Trump country, Kevin.

So the Dem nominee for speaker got more votes (212) than McCarthy (203). :p
Unfortunately, not the 218 to win.

Off to round 2.

well first time in 100 years a speaker hasn't been nominated on attempt #1 it seems.
the 1923 House took 9 rounds to get a Speaker.

Interestingly, for round 2, the #2 House Republican is getting votes despite the #2 saying to vote for McCarthy instead

Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) fell short a third time in his bid for House speaker as 20 Republicans rejected his candidacy and backed Rep. Jim Jordan (Freedumb caucus).

House adjourns for the night.

Interesting suicide squeeze play if McCarthy does it.

If he bring this motion to the floor about plurality of votes to be Speaker and gets 218+ to say yes, then the Freedumb Carcass either has to vote for McCarthy or a Dem will be speaker.

Please McCarthy, do it!
