Yeah this is not complicated. Republicans got away with having super unpopular positions on abortion for years because voters knew the courts would never let them do it. Now that the voters have to actually deal with Republican abortion positions, Republicans lose.

A normal party would see this and move to the center but they can’t because through the primary system the party is captured by the crazies.

Just because I am discussing the issue doesn't mean I am passionate about the issue.

And whilst the Supreme Court ruling on Roe vs Wade hurt the Republicans in the recent midterms, I'm not sure it was a bigger factor than Biden's unconstitutional bribe on Student Debt Relief that got smacked down AFTER the midterms.

There’s polling on that too - it was abortion, and to a lesser extent people concerned about Republican attacks on democracy.

Republicans are going to keep losing and losing until they move left on abortion. On democracy I guess maybe they are betting on only having to win once, haha.

Wonder if Hakeem Jeffries approached a moderate GOP member and said entire Dem caucus will support them to be speaker instead of the spineless one?

I think getting a David McKinley of West Virginia or Don Young of Alaska as Speaker out of this would be a wonderful repudiation of worms like McCarthy. The country has spoken - enough of this crazy shit. Get to work.

the GQP base is shitty and crazy, they can't win without them. the GQP will continue to double down on them and only get crazier.

there may have been a point where some of these people were reachable, but that time has passed. THere is no more time to reach out to those loons unfortunately, it's time to understand the enemy before it is too late and realize the battle lines have been drawn.
 
Trump has a decent record in primaries, but absolute trash when it comes to the elimination round. It's like a big football program pasting small colleges and running up the scoreboard and thinking they are hot shit. Then they get the out of conference game vs a real team and get their asses handed to them.

We all see through it.

I saw this on my YT feed a while ago..


These towns are so in the middle of nowhere they just believe anything the tv tells them vs what people actually act like in cities and suburbs.

So fear takes over and they vote based on fear. It's a race to what can people be afraid of more to motivate those voters and to carry on the grift more.

I agree some of them are completely misled and some are reachable. But also there are fundamentally evil people. Either way we have no time to reach out to the reachable ones out there. We just barely hung on to democracy once in the last couple years. Basic freedoms and decency are being attacked left and right. At some point in history battle lines are drawn otherwise one side is caught with their pants down and shitty political parties become authoritarian rulers.

The battle lines have been drawn there is no time to reach out to the loons anymore.

And yes while cities tend to promote more advanced thinking due to actually being diverse and seeing different lifestyles and points of view first hand, it's not a guarantee. While a minority there are still plenty of really shitty GQP people in cities too.

I mean shit in New York City recently the cops just let a whole bunch of proud boys demonstrators go through the subway for free and then block journalists from doing the same. Shitty people are everywhere. Going to be hard enough to account for the ones in the city let alone the majority outside of them
