It seems here that a lot of the people who didn't like Bush seemed to want him to do poorly just so they had something to bitch about in P&N. I hope that most people who voted for McCain won't turn out to be like that. I imagine that most McCain supporters won't have stupid things like, "Barack Obama is not my president!" in their sig.

I disliked Bush tremendously, but I still hoped that he would do some good while in office.

You can't expect people to act above their grade level. Fools can only be fools. Being humble and feeling worthless are the same thing to them.

People would rather lie and be assholes than feel pain because the pain they really feel is tremendous.

Are you sure that you don't post on here as a part of a high school creative writing class?

No, I post on here as a clown because I know what clowns will see. I have not only been through the mill on this issue you raise but have thoroughly worn out many grind stones in the refinement and crystallization of my awareness and conscious apperception regarding the nature of the psychological reactions I provoke by discussing issues vastly beyond your ken. I am, as it were, a weathered granite mountain blasted smooth and polished by the friction of millions of passing grains of sand offended by the immovability of my deep batholithic core. I have seen deep into your darkness and it scares you. I know you better than you can possibly imagine. I fought in the Great War. I fought the battle against the Nothingness and won. I post here so you can have my sword.
Nice post. That was one battle...more coming.

Haha, you fought in World War One? That's impressive. You are about as solid as Jello. You have no idea what lies in my darkness by the way.

Seriously, calling people sheep and clowns is so 9th grade. Grow up and use modern english to have a real conversation with another man. This isn't poetry club were users should have to interpret your message.

You are just angry TaliBill because you cannot even begin to comprehend what Moonbeam is saying...
Hell, you probably do not even know the meaning of half the words he uses!!
If you could comprehend what my friend Moonbeam is saying you would appreciate what he has to say!!
The truth shall set you free!!

I'd have to side with TallBill on this one. THere's no point in sending across a complex and difficult message and have it be lost on your audience. Simplicity is very valuable. Not that I don't mind moonie's posts, they are quite good.

George Bush has a long and unenviable string of broken promises behind him-starting when he declared himslef to me the great conciliator and immediately proceeded to govern as if he had a mandate-when in reality he had a 5-4 Supreme Court decision that installed him in office. Given his track record, the best we can hope for now is that he does not do too much more damage while he remains in office. It's a shame, because even with Richard Nixon we could hope for and acheived occassional smart and good decisions.

I do wish GWB a long (and quiet) retirement. At the core, he lacked the qualifications to lead as president and has been pretty much a disaster as such.

Bush was my president, Obama will be my president even though I didn't vote for him and disagree with many of his viewpoints.

Frankly, I see no difference between many of the bush-haters that couldn't separate the man from the issues, and those right wingers who are going to do the same with Obama. Idealogy blinds.

We can strongly disapprove of the president but still hope for the best. There is nothing constructive in saying that since your guy lost you hope the other guy brings the country into the shitter. Yeah, that'll show 'em.

However, when the interests of the president are in clear opposition to the interests of the country then, no, I do not wish the best for the president. There are shades of support/opposition of course.

This is my opinion as well. Bush was successful in getting us into Iraq, not the best thing for the country IMO.

Did you crawl out from behind a rock after these past eight years? Presidents are to be savaged forthwith starting with saying they stole the election.

You say that as though GWB&Co don't have many valid reasons be be criticized here and abroad.

FWIW, the waste of air Rush Limbaugh has already started blaming Obama and he's still 9 weeks from taking office!

That explains Jimmy Carter.

Sawyer, do you have ANY examples of people in this forum NOT wishing Obama the best?

I don't recall seeing a thread about how someone hopes Obama fails, did I miss that one?

Even those of us who were most adamantly against him are not running around wishing that he fails.

What you ARE seeing is the suggestion that if he follows left wing policies that he may fail and thus lose in 2004. But that it all up to Obama.

There is at least one guy here who has stated that he believes that America "deserves" Obama as a form of punishment and "hopes" that he brings about all kinds of "Chavez" style policies that utterly tear this country apart from the ground up because we deserve to suffer. Now, I am not saying that there are legions of Americans out there who feel that way, but there are many who do wish that Obama will fail this country so that he will not be voted in for a 2nd term and more or less because they get to say, "I told you so!"

Sad but true. :(

I think the vast majority of Americans hope he does well. I'm just not real optomistic about his ability to turn the economy around and improve things. I am also terrified of his social stances. I hope he doesn't have the chance to appoint any judges.

I don't know what TallBill is talking about, Moonbeam's posts make sense to me for the most part.

Think of Moonbeam's posts as something out of a Sigmund Freud (or other psychologist) text and you might begin to see what he's talking about.

It really makes sense, truly. It just takes a while to get your head wrapped around the idea. His writing style does make it more difficult to do so, but it is very much worth trying to understand.

His writing style is masturbation with the English language - a few borrowed concepts from Nietzsche or anything else in first year college philosophy wrapped in metaphoric bullshit. It took a paragraph to convey the idea that "I've seen shit, I'm smarter than the rest of you but here are a few nuggets of wisdom."

As much as I don't like Obama, Biden and Pelosi are much much worse...

Well, that certainly explains the phenomena that occurred, left of center, after Bush Stole the election in 2000.

Self reflection is a bitch, huh?

Why should I believe YOU know. This post of yours doesn't indicate you have any. In the first place it implies I didn't know in 2000 what I know now or didn't make that connection, which is false. And person can have a reaction to something and not realize it's insane, or one can react even knowing it's crazy. And the thing being reacted to may be harmless or a very real danger as was certainly proved to be true with Bush. This last fact makes it very hard to suggest the people reacting were loons.

You have dogshit on your shoes. I DON'T have a dog.

You stepped in something and I know not what. The smell, however, tells me it's some kind of shit.

This reminds me of a story:

A man was standing on the side of a road, a Sufi as it happened, as the kings retinue approached. The advanced guard lashed out with whips at him screaming away dog the king is coming. That is why! he said.

Then came the royal guard yelling for him to bow down. That is why, said the Sufi.

The nobles came next and saluted him. That is why, said the man.

Then came the king who threw him a bag of gold. That is why, said the Sufi.
