It has good reviews, but I want your input.

You mean spent casings? Yeah thats not going to work well. These things don't have the suck for that and the size of the casing would easily get stuck. Dust pan and broom too much work?

Not sure what type of range you go to (ie outdoor with dirt floors) but if i go indoor i just use the provided dustpan and broom to pick up my brass. Free and probably takes just as long. If im at an outdoor range i usually just pick up as i go. Fire of 15 rounds, collect brass, keep firing.

I'd be worried that thing would like picking up shells to be honest though. Could see the brass clogging up by the hose in the "tank" portion. my personal opinion is that is more for like the pictures show...picking up dust/small objects.

We have a plug in shop vac that picks up brass instantly. Its much faster than the broom especially after a long night of shooting with the 4H club. BUT, the thing breaks a lot cuz its older than most of us and twice as cranky. We thought about getting a portable one for convenience when walking all up and down the range.
If this wont do the job I guess we'll just get another cheap generic shop vac and make do.

Let me be the first to say BoomerD. I do not judge you at all for having searched for "nut wizard" on the internet.

Not at all.

Actually...I searched "Brass magnet," but whatever blows up your skirt.

I hear they used to make guns that had a built in brass catcher. They looked something like this, supposedly:

I've never seen one IRL so they might just be a myth. I'm not sure if you can even make guns out of steel and wood anyway, seems like it would be too weak compared to polymer.

They where known for having a highly limited number of rounds and were primarily used to shoot lame horses and children.
