Wow, It's been a long hard road this past few months, my original 1 month "vacation" turned out to be more like 2 and a half months, I've just been released back into the mix, and I can't tell you how good it feels to be back!
Below are the transcrips of correspondence I had with the Mods, durring my break, I enclose them as an educational tool, so that you all may learn from my mistakes. I do this at great risk to my ego, because I got pretty desperate about half way through, but if one less person avoids doing something to get banned because of this purpose, I've made a difference...
*ony changes have been to disguise my personal info, and the topic that I was origonally banned for, anything in bold has been changed...

You will be looking elsewhere for a month. When you return, another post about obtaining illegal software on our forums will be reason to lock your account permanently.
Please do not start another account during this time out. Doing so would also be reason to ban you from our forums.

Hello,
Anandtech, O' how I missed 'thee
I'll recount the ways in haiku verse:
mouse clicks in the dark
some muffled keystrokes
neff neff neff neff neff neff neff
My acct was banned on 9/7/05
In the meantime I've been lurking in ATOT bookmarking threads I want to post in. So far the count is up to 149, so I've definitly got some work to do...
Belive me, not being able to post was a nightmare. I even stooped so lo as to communicate with ATOT viewers of the thread where people were looking @ the excite search spy, I typed in messages, in hopes that someone might relay them to the thread I was lurking on. I know this was low, but I'm desperate... I need my ATOT fix!!
Since it has been past midnight (EST) for nearly 22 min now, it has officially been a month since my temporary vacation began
Or so I would believe...
I'm writing this letter only half-seriously, but I would be curious as to when my ban may be lifted, so that I may loggin again, and continue on the path toward liferdom (someone once told me that it is impossible to become a lifer without being banned once or twice along the way...)
Do you guys go by Pacific time or something?
Or do you clock it by when I commited the bannable offence?
Or is it like how there was no year zero, so everyone thought the new millenium thing was in the year 2000, but it was really in 2001, like on that episode of Sienfeld??? Do you know what I mean?
I'm just wondering when I'll be able to start posting again, cause even though I've waited this long, another 8 hours seems like an agonizing prospect...
pretty soon I'll be able to bug all of my fellow ATOTer's instead of clogging your inbox with annoying e-mails....
LMK, thanks

We are glad you miss us. However, you forgot to mention that you started another account since your original account was locked:

You did the same thing the last time you were given a time out:

The moderator's note in your account says this is reason to ban you permanently from our forums.
I will post your message for discussion by our moderators to consider whether we should unlock your account. Even if we agree that you should, your account will remain locked for some more time for starting the other account.
Please do not start yet another account. Doing so will defintely make your ban permanent.
We will get back to you with our decision.

Thank you in advance for your careful consideration. I do realize that use of your forums is a privilage, not a right. Further more it was wrong to open the other accounts. While I may have had a reason to do so at the time, I also realize that you could care less what those reasons were, and that re-stating them here would be little more than a pitifull attempt at excuse making. There is no excuse, and if the decision was made to ban me permanently, regardless of how crushing it would be for me, I would understand. Please accept my sincerest regrets and deepest apologies.
To continue with my poetry theme, I will quote the first quatrain of a sonnet by John Donne that I find suprisingly relevant...
Batter my heart three-personed God, for you
as yet but knock, breathe, shine and seek to mend.
That I may rise and stand o'erthrow me and bend
Your force to break, blow, burn and make me new.
Kinda fitting, huh? any-hoo... (who says any-hoo?) please let everyone read this communiqe as well. I look forward (I hope) to being apprised of your collective decision as to my e-fate...

Gabe,
The moderator who locked your account has decided to unlock it on 11/7. Additional poetry not required or requested. Starting another account will reverse that decision.
See you then. Please let us know if your account is not unlocked on time.
