Im currently working helpdesk for a large outsourcing company based all over the united states and then some.
i currently work a lovely 10-630pm
as soon as i can squeeze myself into an earlier position im gonna consider getting a real degree..
we deal with alot of citrix issues and alot of other stuff u can think of.
now i made 2 mistakes on my road there... i thought by taking one of those one year job training classes..for electronics technician because they sucked me into saying that i could learn alot in a very little time. first mistake..the teacher told us time after time to forget working in the IT field....
2nd Class same concept but more computer based...got me a few certs...MCP,S+ and A+ os/hardware, but i learned some stuff there, alot of it i already knew. i learned actually how to use bit-torrent...actually, i know off-topic but thought i may add that
here are my options,
-a fellow co-worker suggested online courses, i think my boss also suggested that mainly because i would have to switch off his team to get a new shift.
-goto night school and get a degree
now the type of degrees im unfamiar with, as in i dont know what area of IT i really want to get into.
i worked field service for a traveling tech.. i hated it, mainly because we did all sorts of businesses. id prefer a single location and learn there infrastructure.
i considering programming,networking,or desktop.
i was told database could be good.
ultimately id wanna think that there is more light after helpdesk, and im still quite young, 23. i wanna find a way i can advance, and figured maybe some of you that are already where id like to be, can maybe help me
