What do you think is a good salary to ask for in the IT customer service field?

In college I was told 13-14 dollars an hour is the usual for such position, however this was in 2005 when I was told this. Any suggestions?

Depends on the city and state. But yeah 13-14 is not unusual for a starting range.

Damn... where you do you live? In Connecticut, I wouldn't consider taking an IT support job for less than $45 an hour.

That said, I have a few years of experience. Even an entry level IT job should pay at least $30 a hour around here.

$10-$14 is average around here (I help hire you people :) ). There's usually room to grow though.

orly? so even a toner monkey can pull in $45/hr in CT? We must be severely underpaying some people.

Not so harsh! He just hasn't lived in the real world long enough.

Sounds like I should avoid IT jobs with "monkey" in the name...
