Just imagine if Doom had been released just a few months later in 1993. Blake Stone would have led the revolution in 3d gaming and now we'd all be playing an alien fighter running around in tights. 😀

I remember seeing that after Wolf3D and thinking "wow, floor and ceiling textures! This game's way ahead of Wolf3D!"

"Rise of the Triad" was another game from about the same time if I recall correctly. While it wasn't quite the game that Doom was, it played better than alot of other wannabe titles. In fact, here's a link for info on it: http://www.3drealms.com/rott/

There's even a version available for you Linux fans. 🙂

😀 Those were the days.....

I like to save my gaming magizines and pullthem out 5 or more years later and check out all the games and ads for high-end computers. Reviews are awesome after 6-8 years as well.

lol, it didn't even have variation in height, from the looks of it. Marathon was really much more innovative, with mouselook, physics, dual weapons, and an actual story.

hahaha Blake Stone and ROTT... ROTT was a great game!

Yes, thanks for the memory... I forgot all about those...

Now all we need is some Commander KEEN!
