IMO, Bush is all for gun control. I as a 'free' citizen am supposedly not allowed to own fully automatic weapons.

Why would a "free" citizen need a fully automatic weapon?

To remain "free".

A US citizen may be able to own a fully automatic weapon, you have to have a permit, pass a background check & local law enforcement approval...

its a tough question...i mean...i dont think private citizens should be allowed to own heavy artillery...but why not?
personally, i think its dangerous to have hardcore weapons floating around private citizens.
at the same time, if criminals or other malevolent forces at work within our country have these weapons, it puts us at a disadvantage. while it tend to come off as paranoid, i think there is much discussion to be had about the ownership of the various types of weapons that are now available in the world.

Can my next door neighbor park a tank in his driveway? How about the old woman across the street...can she have a missile in her backyard?

Seriously, I'm pretty ignorant on where the lines are drawn and why.

To take out the gov thugs when they come to intern you. Dont think it can't happen. You're a liberal first on the list when fasicsts take over. Hitler killed millions of them in addition to Jews. Imagione if Jews were allowed full autos... no halocaust I'm confident.

The most fundemental right IMO is right to self-defense.

Pre 86 models. This has artifically inflated the price as such thery are out of reach to most individuals. A defacto ban.

Besides where it says in const I need a permit? a background check? Don't need a permit to practice my religion.

Arms as written in the constitution and discussed in founders writtings meant "small arms". They had a more refined and expansive venacular back then and refered to heavy arms as "ordinance" which were just as disallowed back then. Course it depends on your POV too. Some think machine guns and 50 cals fall under the ordinance catagory today and use that reasoning in court when ban is challanged. People like me, would allow citizens to be competitive with it's potential oppessor foriegn or domestic.🙂

A&E doctors are calling for a ban on long pointed kitchen knives to reduce deaths from stabbing.

A team from West Middlesex University Hospital said violent crime is on the increase - and kitchen knives are used in as many as half of all stabbings.

They argued many assaults are committed impulsively, prompted by alcohol and drugs, and a kitchen knife often makes an all too available weapon.

I knew some crap like this was going to come up sooner or later, the Brits have made handgun ownership a crime, self defense nearly impossible, and now they're going after kitchen knives. (my bad, they're going after pointy kitchen knives)

What's next on the list?

Ban rocks & sharp sticks

Handgun bans are a good thing. If you need a reason to protect yourself your either stupid or a drug dealer.
Thats why so many americans have guns i guess 😛

No matter how many times I read that statement it seems insane.

Which one? I can tell you it was a vague attempted joke.

Broken sarcasm meter :-/ sorry :clock:
