No because I talked to someone from ATOT on AIM. The person told me what I posted.

I like computers and enjoy the company of people around me talking. Since I cannot be in a huge room with 100 people all the time talking, I come here when I have nothing else to do. I am merely a college student that likes computers and chatting it up with other guys and gals like me. No one said we were all hideous, pasty, dorks. I for one will say that the description states the opposite of alot of the guys here.

Same. Except I'm a diamond member, no gf, don't cycle, and rarely go to frat parties. But i do have plenty of friends outside ATOT to hang out... they just have jobs too.

I'll fess up. Aside from work and family, ATOT has been my primary social field for the last few years. And I find nothing wrong with that.

I was disabled in college, could barely walk because of my arthritis. I also took a ton of classes and didn't have time for the high demand of real life interaction. So I hung out on OT.

Fast forward 4 years. My two best friends are both from the forums. I moved to be near one and the other moved to be near the two of us. I have good friends all over the country who I have/will visit.

I've got real friends too, lasting friendships from my teens, and friendships from church and whatnot, and nobody on earth would be able to convince me that some of the friendships I've made from AT are any less "real" or are somehow "wrong" compared to the relationships that started in real life.

Welcome to the 21st century. Things are changing.

I realized some of you spend a LOT of time here. You guys meet & chat through here, talk on the phone even without knowing in person, go to meets, and even plan your job locations around each other.

Your primary friends are made through ATOT and social interactions are done thorugh AIM, phone and seldom in person on the long run.

I am just appalled. You know who you are.

I know it's awesome to 'meet' people who share same hobby, same interests and acknowledge general geekdom. (I am certainly one.)

But it starts to irk me wrong when some of us go a little too far and consider each other 'friends'. I know the american term friend is used very loosely, I'm referring to true bonding of friendship that occur through trials, love and time in person.

I like reading everybody's comments. Some people are just too funny!
And for the most part, there is no color or race involved, we are just "geeks"

I don't consider anyone here a friend, though I have indeed met some of my closest friends online & never seen them face to face. Judging by your username (yOu KnOw WhAt I mEaN) and many of your posts here I'm guessing you're about 15? And have "friends" who do some of the dumbest sh!t going and would ditch you for some cash, hash or a piece of ass? :p Some of us are more discriminating, and if someone 3000 miles away is worthy of friendship, why let distance impede it? Teh intarweb is a wonderful thing :)

This is just another one of the nearly identical posts that are made here by members of your duration.
Based on previous experience, you'll either become a lifer in under eighteen months or drop off the face of AT.
Good luck with that.

so why do you post 7 times per day and seek acceptance and acknowledgement from these appaling people?
