It appears that Art the starfish is having personal problems.

I haven't got a clue what happened to my bud Art.
He was fine last week and now he pulls up one leg short of a full load. He seems fine (I'm no starfish biologist) and he's as chipper as ever.
I don't have any critters in his tank with him that could create such a "Jaws" effect.
You guys think he's just shedding?

Put a small yellow sponge in there. TV tells me sponges are starfishes are friends.

I thought that may have been what happened, but there's no way he can get in anything. There's just a protein skimmer and over the back filter in that tank. I wonder if something fell on him and lopped it off?
I sure hope that ain't Art's pitchin arm.

There's just some damsels and a couple more stars and some snails and some little hermit crab monkeys. Blue legged and red legged.
Nope, haven't added any rock and there's no shrimps in there that I can see.
Maybe it was a land shark?

ithe hermits can get a little agressive at times but i dont think they are the direct cause of his missing leg. does the protein skimmer have a inlet big enough to fit a starfishes leg? and is the hang on back filter outlet in the water directly or doe you have a waterfall effect with it?

There is a bit of a waterfal effect, but not even enough to make noise. When the water is down it's greater. The skimmer has a sponge over the powerhead.
I'm leaning towards the autocannibalism suggestion. Art is sort of a twisted little critter.

I have no idea. I was tempted to look under the couch. Art may have been playing with the cats when I was out. Hard to tell what that little ah heck's got up his sleeves.
