issues with windows xp or internet explorer, status bar on i.e.?

Hmmm I'm assuming this is a problem with windows xp since I never had this problem before, and it seems to be a folder/internet explorer problem. For some reason sometime my explorer windows will pop up with the status bar (i.e. tells you what link you're hovering over or what is within the folder), but then sometimes it doesn't. Considering it's completely random, I don't really know if this is an i.e. or xp issue, but if anyone knows what setting I can get to to fix it I would be very grateful. Thanks!

that's the problem, by default it's not, or by default sometimes it is, it's really random. So sometimes I have to go to view, status bar, and make it checked, and then again sometimes I don't. And it doesn't stay after restarting or anything. So it really is completely random, and I'm hoping their's something outside of internet explorer where I can set it so I don't have to go into view, status bar, and make it checked everytime I start up windows.

I got the same f'n problem! I don't know if the status bar comes on randomly. I was thinking thhat if you turned it on for a webpage .. the next time u opened the exact same page the status bar would come on ..

Make sure to do "View -> Status Bar" for both Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer. Not sure if that'll help.

after you do the view -> status bar close out IE. IE tends to remember that last settings when it was closed. Sometime the status bar disappears on me while I'm viewing *ahem* "adult content". Could this be your problem? 🙂

I have the same thing happen depending on the site being viewed...although not very often as I have the Staus Bar checked.

Do you experience this even if the Staus Bar is checked?

(edit) I see someone already noticed that its a HTML thang.

maybe it's a script a webpage author can run. Sometimes new IE windows open up fullscreen with no status bar or toolbar at the top. Just minimize, restore and close button.

Its got to be in the programming of the pages for some of them to disable the Staus Bar even though it is checked.

XML or HTML.?

Pop-up windows are HTML but appear as a gif or jpeg and they have no tool bars or staus bar either....hmmm.

I don't see it as a real problem for me and haven't really had a proplem configuring IE to show the Status Bar ever since maybe ver 3.
