Here are computer specs to start:
AMD 3800+X2 AM2
Abit KN9 SLI
2GB OCZ Gold
EVGA 7900GT 512mb
WD 160GB 16mb SATAII
older Maxtor 80GB(not RAID)
OCZ 600W PS
Onto problems! First major problem I had was a couple weeks ago, computer was almost a month old at that point. I was having problems first in BF2142 with the computer not recognizing USB ports, freezing key entries, blue screen of death. Slowly it came to the point where the computer would always BSoD if I used any program. Completely reformatted and installed windows, stuck with older drivers first and still had problems. Full update and still problems.
Finally I moved the hard drives from SATA 1-2 down the line until they worked in SATA 5-6. Now the ports are in groups of threes with 1-3 on bottom and 4-6 on top. Everything BSoD related is gone for now, but what would have caused this? Motherboard chipset problem? I might just have them replace it if thats the issue.
Second, I think unrelated problem. Ever since Ive been using this computer I had a small display glitch whereas in certain games the screen would switch to this weird fuzzy vertical line display like it couldnt output what was sent. This would go away after I minimized game and came directly back in, but would come back. Before my HD problem I "seemed" to have fixed this mostly by upping my output to 72hertz, but still had problems in HL2 mods. Now I get this problem always in BF2142. Ontop of that anytime I go into advanced display settings, load a game, or going into vid related programs(games, movies) the screen goes black for a few seconds. What could be causing this? Im more stumped on this but it is a smaller problem.
