Issues with memory timings. How can I find and change them?

I wonder what my memory's timings are set to but don't know how to figure it out.
How do I find the timings?
Is it possible to change timings on all memories (no matter who the manufacturer is)?
How do I change the timings?
What should I think of, if I decide to change these settings?

how to find/change your timings:
make your way into bios/cmos, then choose advanced options, there you should be able to find the memory timings. pick the option where you can change your timings(Unfortunately it´s not on all mobo's where it's possible to change your timings)
you can't just set your timings to 2,2,2,4 or somthing like that.. it fully depends on what memory you have installed in you comp.
