Issues with FFDShow interfering with DVD playback?

Here's the scoop:

I watch my DVD movies on my computer evenly between WMP and WinDVD. I also like to watch a little fansubbed anime on my computer. One title in particular makes use of the OGG audio codec. The site where I downloaded it from (wish I could find it now) instructed me to install the matroska splitter/filter pack and ffdshow in addition to the OGG codec. Everything worked fine until a week ago. I went to watch From Dusk til Dawn on my computer (WMP), and was greeted with horrendously loud distortion for audio.

Thinking OGG may have been screwy, I uninstalled all three of those items and all was well. However, now some of my anime was unwatchable. Just for giggles, I decided to reinstall the three items and play some anime back to see what would happen. To my surprise, I was greeted with the horribly loud distortion again. Now it seems no matter what I do, my anime will always have that borked audio, and if i have ffdshow installed, DVD audio in WMP will be borked as well. OGG and Matroska seem to have no effect on my DVD audio, so I managed to pinpoint it to ffdshow.

My questions...why am I now greeted with loud distorted noise whenever ffdshow is present?

My codecs, files, and players:

ffdshow-20041012-sse2-1
Matroska b96
OggDS0995
WinDVD 6 (and its accompanying DVD decoder)
WMP 10
DivX 5.2.1

Any ideas?
