Issues with downloading

To be specific, yesterday, I was Downloading Frontlines Fuel of War beta using the Fileplanet manager. The irritating thing was that it would keep relegating me to the lines, and although it would resume when I got back in line, I never had experience where FP would keep putting me in line and then once I was ready to download, get back in line. When I was maybe 95% done, FP Manager had this little "cannot connect to Mirror" thing and went back in line, and I assumed that it wouldn't even pick up where the download left off. At that point, I canceled the download, and closed FP Manager, thoroughly pissed off.

Before I went to bed, I found another mirror site:
http://www.ausgamers.com/files/details/html/31647

I started Downloading, no manager or anything, and went to bed. When I got up in the morning, I went down to see if the download had completed. I had left the computer for maybe 8.5 hours, and the progress bar was 23% done. 23%!!!!

What was more perplexing was that it wasn't even downloading, it was just static. Nothing. 23% and it had froze. I figured maybe the server had issues, and while pissed, I decided to screw off on FFOW.

Then, a PC Gamer fellow gave me a link to the Company of Heroes Co-Op D-Day map. I downloaded and I sucessfully installed it.

Then I booted up CoH and they wanted me to Download a patch, which I did. It was 112 MB, so I just minimized, and played around on the desktop using xfire and such.

When I maximized, CoH had successfully Downloaded the patch, and I clicked OK to exit CoH like I always do, and waited for the patch to start up...

Only, the patch didn't start up, nothing happened.

"WTF," I thought, and the same chap gave me a link to update Company of Heroes to the correct version

The first time, the download was stuck on 31%. It WOULDN'T GO anymore than 31%. It was stuck. Frozen.

I angrily canceled the download, impatient and pissed off, and then tried again. I was able to successfully download it, but the winrar diagnostic appeared and told me the content of the unzip file was damaged or was a different format.

Then I realized that it was for Opposing Fronts, and thought maybe that had something to do with it.

So I went for Downloading this:
http://www.gamershell.com/download_21150.shtml

And it didn't get past 2%. It was frozen. I was using the standard firefox downloader for all of these except of course the FP Manager.

I'm at my wits end, and maybe there's some spyware, but I just don't get what is going on.

And you usually see constant flickering of estimated time and such, but nothing on all of the frozen ones.

man, I'm pissed, and at my wits end. Any ideas?

I posted this in ATPCG and AT Networking, because they're pretty twined, so maybe I'll be able to get a helpful diagnostic. Thanks.

It seems the Company of Heroes patch thing is a universal glitch that affected most people trying to use the automatic method.
I went into my documents and installed from there.

I'm still trying to find out why I keep having these frozen download sessions, but no luck yet.

you're not missing anything with fuel of war. its actually a sign that you shouldn't play it.

yeah I figured. Most others agreed. I was looking forward to this game, but I'll just wait for Battlefield 3, and see how that turns out.
