Issues with Biostar T-power post codes and DVI output from GTX 260.

Ok, it's time to call in some big guns on this one. As of now, my new baby rig is DOA. Unfortunately, because everything on the build is new, and there's a dearth of parts for me to swap out, I've got a few problems here I'm struggling to interpret.

This is a fairly straightforward build based around a Biostar T-Power P45, a q6600, and a gtx 260. A complete rundown of my parts from Newegg can be found herehere .

Got the last few parts (monitor, GPU) today and put them together. I'm still getting the same post code from before (AMI bios, post code 03). Before, I'd been lead to believe it was b/c I didn't have a video card inserted yet, which, now that I think about it, is pretty funny. Anyways, since the monitor and video card wasn't here yet, I wasn't sweating it that much.

Now, I've got two problems. First, the mysterious "03" code and what I need to do about it. Second, my monitor shows no DVI output.

The monitor works, and does recieve signal from my older P4 build. Sending video signal is about all that build is good for, though, and my normal web-surfer, my laptop, died promptly after I placed my order for the new build.  As such, please note that I'm left without a computer to research this stuff with! Uber-annoying! I'm out at a public library right now, and it sucks balls. I'll coax the GF into bringing over her laptop after work tonight, but I wanted to get going on this ASAP.

Problems:

[*]Doesn't look like the mobo is getting past post code "03", as shown in the digital readout on the Biostar T-Power P45. The manual included with the mobo isn't very clear on what that means, or what I should do. I forgot to bring the text with me to quote, but it said something about disabling parity, NMI, and some other stuff. None of which I know how to do atm, especially w/o video output or some kind of interaction with the actual BIOS.

[*]No output, whatsoever, from the video card to the monitor. I double-checked to make sure my mobo was set up for the 1x16 PCI-E, not 2x8 crossfire, and that my jumpers and everything were in the right spot. The video card is recieving power (fan turns on).

I'm looking into both of these issues right now, but any experience with these cards would be helpful.

I've gone back through the build and double-checked my connections to both the PSU and the mobo. I'm stumped at the moment. I'll keep looking into it, but this seemed like a good time to make a post and then check back later for possible answers.

Thoughts:
- Both the mobo and the vid card are new, and untested. It's hard for me to tell whether the BIOS boot-up isn't getting far enough to output anything to the video card, or whether the video card is DOA. There's no immediately available way for me to check this (ie, no friends have compatible hardware, and I don't have anything extra lying about).

Make sure you have the video card in the upper slot. Also be sure that your using bother PCI-e power connectors on the card.

Just in case the board is stuck on that error code reset the cmos. If you still can't get any video then its time to get an RMA for the video card.

Do you have a speaker connected to the new motherboard? If so, do you get any beep codes? Single beep or multiple short/long beeps? If not, is there a speaker in your old pc that you could rip out, just for testing purposes

Remove power, and then remove gfx card and ram. Disonnect any other peripherals for these tests - hdd, dvd, and any usb devices including keyboard and mouse. Reconnect power and switch on. You should get a beep code of 1 short, 3 long. If not and you have both ATX (24pin) and EATX (4 pin or 8pin) connectors installed then your m/b is most likely dead.
Remove power and replace ram but not gfx card. Reconnect power and switch on. You should get a beep code of 1 long, 2 short. If not, your m/b is not fully completing POST, most likely a bad m/b but could also be an issue with a bad, incorrectly installed or unsupported cpu.
If you've got the beep codes, and still don't get video, then the fault is likely to be with your graphics card.

What's the system you're currently accessing the AT forums on? Easiest thing to do would be use that system to check if the 260 is working.

Thanks for the replies, all.

I suspect it's not the video card. The card is powering up fine, and we're not far enough into the POST sequence yet where I'd get video output anyways, according to their tech support. The point about the speakers is well-taken, though. It never occurred to me that I might not be hearing beep codes b/c I didn't have a speaker set up yet.

After spending some time with Biostar tech support and troubleshooting the hell out of this thing, we determined that it was the mobo and that it needed to be returned. It's going in the mail tomorrow. If the RMA doesn't solve the problem, I'll be back with updates.
