Issues running Rainbow6: Raven Shield...not sure if it's hardware

I got and installed Raven Shield today and I'm having problems. I played the demo without any incidents so I'm a bit stumped. The game installs fine and the missions load, but once i leave the area very near to the initial spawn point the game starts to seriously lag. My HDD activity light goes nuts and I can move and if i wait a minute and start hitting ctrl-alt-del i eventually get to the point where I can get to the task manager. But from intial problems to that point takes about 5 minutes of waiting. I have a GF4 Ti4200 w/ 128MB Ram, an XP1800, 512 PC2100, and 2 WD Hard drives(one 120 w/ 2MB cache, and the other is an 8MB 120GB drive). i've installed the game on both drives and that didnt work. I have DX9 installed. I have the 41.09 drives installed. I also have downloaded the det 43.00 drivers, but havent installed them yet. Could they possibly help? Any ideas? Sorry if this shouldnt be here, but Im not sure where the problem lies.
thanks,
-doug

EDIT: I also noticed on Ubi's support page, that the Ti4200 isnt listed in the supported graphics cards. Is this the actual case, or did they just forget to list it?

I wish I could help more then tell ya to check with the guys at Aggression for help with it. I don't have the game, but others there do.

I had the problem also. If you wait long enough it passes and then you are fine. Did not experience it on the subsequent levels. -TAL

I'm on a AMD 1400 with 512MB RAM and a GF3

I left it be for about 10 minutes and it kept doing the same thing...any suggestions?
thanks,

Hmm, maybe the demo maps are smaller than the full version. The game is a pig as far as I'm concerned. Try lowering the detail levels and see if that helps.

I will give that a shot when i get back to my computer next sunday. But i let it sit OVERNIGHT and it still ran like crap. And spliter cell was working fine before a few days ago.

Never thought of that. Not a bad throught about the bug tho..cuz Splinter Cell has been misbehaving too.

Unreal bug? I have heard of reports of people having to uninstall UT to play Splinter Cell as it too uses the Unreal engine.

That's clazy unless the game is hanging in memory or something. Games do not install system files. Each run from their own folders and their own registry entries.

Might sound crazy, but there are complaints of it at the Ubi Splinter Cell forums. I can't say for sure as I don't have but SC and don't have any inclintation to get UT or Unreal 2. I'm not a fan of FPWV, jumping and fantasy weaponry like a rail gun. To me a chain gun is the 30mm one used on the AH-64 Apache and not something you hold in your hands.

I had to futz around with the demo for hours to get it to run smooth.

I ended up with 2 solutions.

1) Bump the cachesize in the ravenshield.ini to 512mb.
2) Turn off sound hardware acceleration in dxdiag.

The cache fix made the biggest difference.

I also took my SB Live out and went with my crappy onboard AC'97 sound. That SB Live has caused me nothing but trouble since day one. Creative is suck.
