This is a fun one!
Kid brings in custom built computer. Will have to re-check which custom-build company this was.

eVGA: x58 SLI
Core i7 (something)
PNY: GTX260 x2
OCZ: PC3 12800
Corsair: TX850W

Issue when brought in: No video. Nada. Recycled power on/off. No beeping. Tried removing cards or trying another pci card. Reset CMOS. PSU's voltage stuffs was all on point.
Still no video, nothing changed.

He brought in another board to replace current one.
Swapped boards.
Initially it did stay powered on.
But still no video. No beeping.
Now it's power cycling on/off.
Currently giving error codes: 83, 10, 29.
We are thinking it may be processor. But shop is not quite equipped to be investing in parts for testing this theory.

Any other potential ideas would be excellent.
 
Echo PSU. Make sure that it is properly connected. Sometimes the 4 pin GPU connector is forgotten about.

no he is talking about the 4/8 pin cpu power connector.

If that is not plugged in or giving correct voltage, then the rest of the system will seem like its powering on correctly but u will not get video.
 
Start swapping parts around with known good ones until you isolate the source. My guess would be start with PSU, then ram and mobo.

An ill-equipped one!
They are really only prepared for computers brought in by clueless grandmothers with hard drives maxing out at an amazing 20gigs.

The amusing part is. They were referred here by Geek Squad. 😵
 
Haven't made any progress on this.
Think I'm going to just advise to take it to a shop that is more equipped than this one.
I think there may be one, they always seem to have nice, new, fancy gear.
Applied there several times in the past.
Not something I think the boss wants to hear or admit, nor customer have to hear, but I don't see much of any other option here.
 
After making several calls around, finally found someone who was willing to bring by some spare compatible parts to test with.
But then, customer surprised dropped in & decided to pick up their stuff before we could get around to testing spare parts known to work.

Kind of sad shop wasn't quite equipped enough to test & fix it here. That's my kinda shit right there.
Fuck all these old 10 year old grandmother friendly computers that steady come through.
