I am simply trying to have an external HDD in my router ASUS RT-68ACP. I have follwed many walkthroughs but my hard drive does not show up on my network.

Under the USB application I have enabled share and hit apply. The drive is unmounted so I formatted a usb thumb drive to test this out and put a video and a photo on there. That worked and is recognized and mounted. Now after I apply it and go to Network it does not show up. I was able to see it via the FTP but I want to use this as a normal hard drive to open files edit and save back on the hard drive. I have no clue what I am doing wrong. Please help.

I have been reading as many walkthroughs as possible before coming here but I am at a loss.

I have my old windows 7 rig, and that one is able to see the thumb drive on my router. I am not sure why my laptop cannot. It must be in the settings on the laptop somewhere but I am not sure how to adjust.

Probably SMB version compatibility issue.

You have to enable SMB 2.0 in the router or enable SMB 1.0 on Windows 10
