Issue with streaming audio

We been having the issue with 15-20ish people streaming audio here at work and it is effecting our bandwidth. Co-worker mentions about just having people bring in the CD's and rip them to mp3 and host a internal mp3 streaming server that people can listen to here. I?m worried about legally issues. Can we do this legally?
 
I don't really know but I would assume that's in violation of copyrights. I find that iTunes works really well in an office. Everyone keeps their own mp3s but shares them over the network (can only stream, no saving without hacking). Of course that's not a whole lot different then how you were proposing it...
