Issue with ASUS A7V266-E and RAM

Are you running a raid setup?
I didn't encounter any problem with XP on A7V133.
My 3 hds are connected to Promise, but no raid setup.
I think the CMOS program has the ata100 driver, so you can boot with it.

Another thing is the boot on Promise was really fast w/bios 1004 on A7V133, but when I upgraded to 1007 to use XP chip, it's got damn slow.
Just like on A7V266-E.

By the way, MS posted a Promise SCSI adapter driver, and some say it's good for Promise controller on the M/B.
 
GOOD News... for those who are having memory problems, try this. I swapped memory modules with my employer, and his module hosed my computer just as it was ruining his (freezup on first try at booting, then blue screen of death on next attempt). My computer even had problems posting correctly on a soft reboot. I was running bios version 1005beta4. **I just flashed to bios version 1006beta4, and everything seems to be fixed.** So, I suggest giving it a shot if you feel comfortable flashing your bios... it may just fix those problems that are driving you nutz. If you are having trouble finding files to use, PM me your email and I will email you the files along with some instructions. Tell me if you want the plain 1006b4 -or- 1006b4 hacked for full raid support instead of lite raid (I am using the hacked currently).
 
xylem: I'm confused. Did you find that the problem was your memory OR the bios?

Also, where does everyone get the beta bios' from?

The problem was that the bios 1005b4 did not utilize the 512 mb chip correctly, and it has been corrected in 1006b4. I imagine other memory issues have also been addressed. In my opinion it's definitely worth trying if you are having instability/crashing problems and you think it may be memory-related. You can most likely find the bios by doing a search for beta bios for a7v266-e and including 1006 if you get too many results. If you can't find it, pm me with your email address and I will email you what you need (boot disk files, flash utility, and/or the bios itself).
 
Ok Guys I tried one of my other buddie's stick of ram same type and brand
Crucial DDR pc2100 cl 2.5 256MB
and it worked just fine so total of 512MB ram.
Ran q3bench marks over and over for about a 1/2 hour.
No problems memory errors went away. So it was bad ram the whole time.
