Issue in Witcher Tutorial/Opening

Maybe I'm an idiot (certainly not discounting this possibility), but when you get to the point in the tutorial where you're supposed to open the gate using the turnstile, how do you do it? Are you supposed to click on it? Some other key? I've tried clicking everywhere, with or without sword drawn, and I don't see any cursor change nor is any action taken. This is pretty frustrating since I've played the game for all of 10 minutes and am hitting this issue. I have the 1.2 patch, FWIW.

Hold down Alt and it will label exactly where you need to click.

That too, I just think it's annoying to have names floating over every single thing.
