Mordechai Vanunu, the man who blew the whistle on Israeli nuclear plans will be released on Weds after 18 years in prison, including 12 in solitary confinement. I don't know if you know much about solitary confinement, but it is brutal for even a few days, let alone a couple of years. The story on his life is really remarkable. He is known as one of the worst traitors because he exposed Israel's nuclear ambitions and also converted to Christianity. As an anti-nuclear activist, he says he has no regrets even after what he has been through.

After giving his photos and telling his story to the Sunday Times, he was seized by the Mossad in Europe and whisked away back to Israel and jailed there since. He wants to come to the US, but the government won't allow him to leave, or even approach any embassies, have a cell phone, use the internet, or talk to any foreigners.

Maybe he likes peace better than his country.........or maybe he liked his country to much to let it's soil be corrupted by nuclear weapons, planted by warmongering politicians.

Israel only exists today because of it's military might in relation to it's neighbors. Regardless, you can't have people just deciding on their own what is better for their country and selling them out because they personally think it's better for their country. That's why we have democracy. Don't like it? Vote someone else into power. This guy is just a traitor.

That's the whole point. No politicians said anything about makeing nuclear wepaons or have done so ever since, so how should the people know they needed to vote for other politicians if the didn't want nuclear weapons?

Israel only exists today because of the US and the terrorist actions of people like Ariel Sharon.

12 YEARS in isolation, torture, not to gain information, just to punish, Israel is NOT a civilized nation.

Pretty low treatment, in my view. Shoulda' been Sharon in solitary the last 18 years. Israel and the world would have been better.

No but please answer how the voters should have prevented a secret nuclear weapons program, when they knew nothing of it?

Yeah, i know, it is hard, you being ex IDF and pretending to be unbiased and all.

However, if you are disputing that Ariel Sharon has been involved in terrorist actions, that the US is the main reason Israel still exists or that 12 years of isolation is torture, then you are just dumb.

It's a moot point. Why would they WANT to prevent a program that helps ensure their country's future? Because some people doin't like it?
Besides, that's not the way democracy works. You vote for people whose decisions you trust. No, you will not know everything that they do, but nowhere in the world do you know everything that your elected reps. will do. You vote for someone whom you trust will make the right call. So if they didn't like what the country was doing, they should have voted for someone else!

I never pretended to be unbiased. I am absolutely biased towards towards the Israelis. With good reason.

LOL, of course you think you have a good reason to be biased towards the Israelis, who would be biased towards something they had no good reason to be biased for?

You forgot to respond to the rest though.

If your government is keeping secrets about their actions, then it is NOT a democracy.

You can twist and turn sqeal and squirm but you can not convince anyone that a government with a secret agenda is a government of the people.

All this begs the question....
How would Arab countries such as Syria, Jordan, and Iran have dealt with a similar situation?

The answer to which begs the question....
Why focus on Israel, the only democracy in the region?

Why the hell should I respond to that? Your agenda is quite clear, and as I said before, I have no interest in getting involved in an argument with someone who has no clue.

Every country does things that you do not know about. Is the US not a democracy? Do you know everything the CIA is doing? Of course not. You rely on the leaders you voted in to office to make the right call. If you disagree I think you're being naive.

stop with that "Israel is the only democracy" crap, even if you have democracy it's you actions that counts. Don't use democracy as an excuse for your actions
