Mordechai Vanunu, the man who blew the whistle on Israeli nuclear plans will be released on Weds after 18 years in prison, including 12 in solitary confinement. I don't know if you know much about solitary confinement, but it is brutal for even a few days, let alone a couple of years. The story on his life is really remarkable. He is known as one of the worst traitors because he exposed Israel's nuclear ambitions and also converted to Christianity. As an anti-nuclear activist, he says he has no regrets even after what he has been through.
After giving his photos and telling his story to the Sunday Times, he was seized by the Mossad in Europe and whisked away back to Israel and jailed there since. He wants to come to the US, but the government won't allow him to leave, or even approach any embassies, have a cell phone, use the internet, or talk to any foreigners.
