JERUSALEM - British police told the Israeli Embassy in London minutes before Thursday's explosions that they had received warnings of possible terror attacks in the city, a senior Israeli official said.

Israeli Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had planned to attend an economic conference in a hotel over the subway stop where one of the blasts occurred, and the warning prompted him to stay in his hotel room instead, government officials said.

Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom said he wasn't aware of any Israeli casualties.

Just before the blasts, Scotland Yard called the security officer at the Israeli Embassy to say they had received warnings of possible attacks, the official said. He did not say whether British police made any link to the economic conference.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the nature of his position.

The Israeli Embassy was in a state of emergency after the explosions in London, with no one allowed to enter or leave, said the Israeli ambassador to London, Zvi Hefet.

All phone lines to the embassy were down, said Danny Biran, an Israeli Foreign Ministry official.

The ministry set up a situation room to deal with hundreds of phone calls from concerned relatives. Thousands of Israelis are living in London or visiting the city at this time, Biran said.

Amir Gilad, a Netanyahu aide, told Israel Radio that Netanyahu's entourage was receiving updates all morning from British security officials, and "we have also asked to change our plans."

Netanyahu had been scheduled to stay in London until Sunday, but that could change, Gilad said.

And who is a trustworthy organization according to you? Perhaps the French who supply weapons to Iraq, Sudan, and Rwanda (during their genocide in the 90s), or Perhaps the Iranians are trustworthy?

I think Abbas is a great improvement over Arafat and that has something to do with this, but also Israel's forceful retaliations have sent a message to the terrorists that Israel will not stand for their attacks without any punishment.

I hope England retaliates strongly against anyone, any organization or any country involved.
Yeah, we've seen how effective that's been in Afghanistan and Iraq.

You sir are an idiot.
The decline in terrorisem is mostly thanks to IDF and not the wall. Abas cannot handle the terror in the Palestinian community, and Israel has to defend itself. You've got a better idea? A wall may not be the perfect solution, but the unless you want Israel to tranfer all Palestinians to arab countries, or kill all the Palestinians, I don't think there is a better solution. Peace talks don't work when the other side wants you dead.

There were zero allegations in my OP. Merely curious thoughts. The official didn't mention anything about attacks specifically targeting the Israelis.

wtf?
the decline in terrorism in Israel is because of the cease fire and the wall, nothing else

this can be clearly shown here
http://www.mepc.org/public_asp/resources/mrates.asp

there have been two times a cease fire has been declared, once around september 2003 and then march 2005

and the wall has two purposes, people should know and thats it to secure the "border" against terrorist attacks inside israel and to annex land (will write more about this when i get back from denmark, here is an old thread I wrote about it, expect a simmilar one soon, http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=52&threadid=1606046&enterthread=y )

Odelia Hubara, 26, of Jerusalem, died of her wounds on February 28.

May 2, 2005 - St.-Sgt. Dan Talasnikov, 21, of Nir Galim was killed and another soldier lightly wounded in an exchange of fire during an operation to arrest wanted terrorists from the Islamic Jihad in the village of Saida, north of Tulkarem. One of the terrorists, responsible for the February 25 suicide bombing in Tel Aviv, was killed. The second terrorist was apprehended.

June 7, 2005 - Three workers were killed and five wounded when a Qassam rocket hit a packing shed in Ganei Tal, in the Gaza Strip, penetrating the building's roof and exploding indoors. The Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the attack. The Chinese worker killed has been identified as Bi Shude, 46, from Jilin province in northeastern China. The Palestinian workers killed were Salah Ayash Imran, 57, of Khan Yunis, married and the father of 8, and Muhammed Mahmoud Jaroun, of Khan Yunis.

Oh, that's a great way to start off a response.

Fvcking troll.

Meh, whatever. Call me a troll, easier than actually writing something in reply.

thats right, the insinuations about the jews and this attack and 9/11 were made by you. your antisemitic views are so thinly veiled you may as well just come out of the closet.

I NEVER INSINUATED JEWS WERE BEHIND THIS ATTACK OR 911. CRITICIZING ISRAEL IS NOT ANTI-SEMITIC.

Read my posts carefully next time. I never said that all jews were saved from WTC.

Here's is how you can know. Read my posts in this thread. Closely. Don't jump to conclusions or imagine I think one thing because I say another. If I say I think Israel has spied on the US, that does not mean that I hate all jews. I do not think Israel plotted 9/11 or London.

Knowing about 9/11 before it happened (jews being warned), or London attacks (Netnaynu being warned, which happened after the first blast)

_IF_ Israel knew yes I would put blame on Israel. Anyway, I'm not sure where you are going with this.

If Israel WAS warned about 9/11 how would you feel if THEY didn't warn us also? << just answer the question and don't add anything about what you think I am trying to say..

From what you wrote I understand that you believe that Israel warned Israelis not to go to the WTC, meaning Israel knew that something was going to happen... Which means that Israel could've warned the US... Really, do you think Israel sent Emails or called thousands of Israelis and told them not to go the WTC and it would've been kept secret?

If Israel WAS warned about 9/11 how would you feel if THEY didn't warn us also? << just answer the question and don't add anything about what you think I am trying to say..
Was that to me?

he was just slandering the jews by throwing an antisemitic conspiracy out there. its more of the same old history of antisemism where people like him just use conspiracies to blame jews for whatever disaster there is. its pretty obvious what he believes.

and as for warnings. there are always terror threats and warnings during the g8 amoung other events. whether one comes to fruitition and where is completely another matter.

Mossad has the best intelligence service going regarding this sort of thing, they knew it was coming just like they did 9/11. That's all I have to say on this matter.

probably should be. considering there are still successful attacks in israel by palestinian terrorists i guess you are saying they don't even warn themselves?

Hmm, interesting...:

London Terror Tip-off: Timeline Refutes Israeli Denial

In denying widespread reports that Israeli Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received a warning of the London terrorist attacks "minutes before" they occurred, Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom claims that "After the first explosion, our finance minister received a request not to go anywhere."

The problem with this explanation is that it was only after the third explosion that London police realized they were in the midst of a terrorist attack. Up until that point, authorities thought they were dealing with a series of accidents caused by a power surge, as this timeline from the Australian Times-Herald makes clear:

8.49am (GMT): An incident on the train line between Liverpool Street and Aldgate is reported to British Transport Police.

9.15am: Media reports emergency services called to London's Liverpool Street station after an explosion.

9.24am: Police say the incident was possibly caused by a collision between two trains, a power cut or a power cable exploding. Police report "walking wounded".

9.33am: Passengers told that all underground train services are being suspended because of a power fault across the network.

9.33am: Reports of another incident at Edgware Road station.

9.40am: Police say power surge incidents have occurred on Aldgate, Edgware Road, King's Cross, Old Street and Russell Square stations.

10.02am: Scotland Yard says it is dealing with a "major incident".

10.14am: A witness says that a bus has been ripped apart in an explosion in central London.

10.21am: Scotland Yard reports "multiple explosions".

10.23am: Police confirm an explosion on a bus in Tavistock Place.

10.25am: The BBC's Andrew Marr, with Prime Minister Tony Blair in Scotland, says the PM is "still unsure" whether the explosions are a terrorist attack.

If Netanyahu was told a terrorist attack was underway after the first explosion ? which everyone, including the police, thought was due to a power surge ? then that?s a lot more than the victims of the subsequent explosions were told as they rode the Tube to their doom. Which means the Foreign Minister?s explanation ? Netanyahu was told to stay in his hotel room after the first explosion, rather than show up at the Israeli economic conference at a hotel near Liverpool station ? is entirely consistent with the claim that he was tipped off to what was really going on, while the rest of the city stumbled into disaster and, in some cases, death.

Another account draws a somewhat tighter timeline:

"Authorities said they initially thought the explosions were caused by power surges and were reluctant to activate well-practiced procedures designed to shut down the system in the event of a terrorist attack. But when the third explosion occurred at 9:17 a.m. near the Edgware Road station in west London, it was obvious that a coordinated attack was underway. Seven people were killed in that explosion.

The entire London Underground network shut down immediately afterward."

If we take the original leaker at his (or her) word, Netanyahu was told "minutes before" the first explosion. However, even if we believe Minister Shalom?s account, it still points to a weird anomaly: It took a full hour for the rest of London to find out that they were under attack, and yet Netanyahu was privy to this well before anyone else ? including Prime Minister Tony Blair.

What did Netanyahu know, when did he know it, and how did he know it? Andrew Sullivan can stuff his ethno-religious special pleading: if there is any "canard" more "tired" and "hideous" than anti-Semitism it is the attempt to reduce all inquiries about Israel's behavior to bigotry. These questions deserve honest answers. Why is no one asking them?
