There really isn't a comparison with Assange because Assange wasn't an American citizen who betrayed his nation.

Not many people (*seem to) know that Pfc Manning was the guy who did the actual leak. Blame it on editorial licence, since I figured using Manning's name woudl get blank stares.

Like I said earlier - I'll try to be more obvious.

Given the way Netanyuhu treated Obama in the recent peace deal, Netanyuhu has to have a lot of gall and chutzpah to even ask for the release of Pollard.

your attempt to use yiddish in this post is actually funny

was is even more funny is your attempt to pin everything specifically on Netanyahu.

Israel is not a dictatorship, its a parliamentary democracy.

Unless he keeps an X amount of votes in his favor, he will lose his post.

Netanyahu wanted the "care package" for israel, but his administration wouldnt.

He was trying to work with obama, his administration wasnt.

so to blame it all on him is showing your ignorance and lack of knowledge on israel.

The Libyans view(ed) the guy as a hero and wanted him back/released. The business connection comes from the Libyan Government's control/influence over Oil contracts. ....which the UK wanted. So trading a prisoner for oil.

Yet many Americans still believe that there should be some sort of special relationship with the UK. The British will happily exchange hundreds of American lives to satisfy their own greed.

Surveys show that most Christians in the United States view themselves as Christians first, Americans second. I wouldn't be surprised if anyone else did the same.

I imagine many Canadians consider themselves peasant-subjects of the Queen before anything else.
I have to agree that many people still believe that they are subjects of the Queen, but those are the older women that migrated from England. And, the bulk of the population (I dare say more than 90%) doesn't give a rat ass about her, because Canada haven't require her veto power for 30 years to make decision, and I think since 1986 she creased to be the symbolic head of our government. The Queen is merely a relict of the past.

I think many people here in Canada feels that they are Canadian first before they are Christian/etc...

I am surprised that Israel wants anything to do with Pollard in the first place, let alone that Israel PM publicly commenting on the case. Let's not forget that Pollard was denied assylum and was literally kicked out of Israel embassy only to be arrested by waiting FBI agents. I wonder if his wife managed to secure some evidence that Mossad was behind Pollard affair and is using it as leverage to secure his release.
I'm not sure if Mossad was behind Pollard, but Aviem Sella (a former Colonel in the Israeli Air Force) recruited him.

And, not only that Israel fuck around with the US investigators before they returned 10 of thousands of pages (million/s still is unaccounted for.)

Actually she is still the head of state of Canada. She's a relic of the past that needs to be removed, but Canadians are too crazy for their monarchy to remove her (except for Quebec, may they prevail in their fight for independence from the monarchy). Nepal got rid of their monarchy yet Canada cannot. I feel that Canadians think of themselves as peasant-subjects before even thinking of themselves as members of humanity. It's crazy.

Nope she is not the head of Canada, because we removed that power (veto power) from her in the 1986 referendum.

The reason that many Canadian feels the need to have close tie to Britain is that where they were born, and the other is that they use the UK as a bridge to tie Canada diplomatically to the EU. And in doing so it deter the US from invading or treating Canada as a second class nation (see US & Mexico relationship).

The United States could invade tomorrow and there is nothing anyone on earth could do to stop that.

She is still the Head of State of Canada despite legally-classified peasants believing that she has no power. Check out Wikipedia or just do a simple google search.

Monarchy has no place anywhere in the world, no matter the justification. Nepal got rid of it. Canada can be as progressive as Nepal.

The US already treats Canada like a second-class nation and acknowledges this fact. It's referred to many times in the leaked diplomatic cables. In fact, Canada has taken a beating internationally this year from the international community.

The Israeli's also were never able to prove Amit was a spy, we were able to prove Pollard was. Not the same thing.
"Amit provided the CIA with classified information about Israel's troop movements and future plans in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories.[4] As well as classified military documents, Amit also stole top-secret materials from Shin Bet, Israel's internal security service. In 1986, a friend of Amit's reported to Shin Bet and the Israel Police that Amit had told him about ties with American intelligence. Amit was subsequently arrested, and during his interrogation, made a full confession and provided the names of individuals he had met with, as well as meeting locations and dates, and the payment he had received. When his house was searched, classified military and Shin Bet documents were found."

Isn't it only the British that believe(or use the term) "special" relationship?

The British citizens and their politicians are the ones that use that term, not their American counterparts.

If I had a nickel for every time I've heard Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, or David Cameron mentioned "special" relationship, I'd be rich.
I don't think I've ever heard Bush or Obama refer such.

One thing I liked about Bush was that when he made a decision, he put his foot to the ground.
No negotiation with terrorists, no exchanging of Russian or Israeli spies and other crap.

Hum, the Wiki article contradicts itself, also saying "Amit is thought to have spied for the United States, though this has never been confirmed by the Israeli government." I wonder which one is the truth.

Jesus Christ on a crutch FGD, your lame attempt to prop up Netanyuhu as someone reasonable is an epic fail. If Netanyuhu did anything reasonable, the settler parties that prop up the Netanyuhu government would have collapsed the entire Netanyuhu coalition and everyone who knows anything about Israeli politics can't contest that fact.

But still Netanyuhu succeeded in screwing the Obama peace talks, and still retains his post as head Israeli cheesehead. But the missing in action justification for Obama is why should anyone assume a jerko like Netanyuhu has an iota of the moral justification to then ask for the the release of Pollard after totally screwing Obama? Especially when even GWB&co would not release Pollard.

Meanwhile FGD, Israel is not even close to a true democracy, its at best an apartheid State democracy that conspires to deny equal rights to over 30% of its population and also has a sad history of being mainly based on the theft of Palestinian land.

Wake up and smell the coffee FGD, the entire world is rapidly losing patience with Israeli propaganda and inaction. The Israeli danger is that if Israel demands too much now, it will end up with far less in the end.

You link and quote Wikipedia then leave out this quote at the very beginning of the article.

" Amit is thought to have spied for the United States, though this has never been confirmed by the Israeli government.[3]" Just because they convicted him doesn't mean they were ever able to prove it.

-edit oops saw kyle got it lol

Yes she is, which is why she was able to suspend your Parliament when Harper was about to get the boot back in 2008.
It was an oversight that the Parliament missed in the 1986 referendum to keep the governor general as a check and balance for the system, however Harper used that loop hole to keep himself in power. The similar shit happened once before with the GST & Conservative government in 1990.

If you put it that way than technically the government such as Harper group rendered the Canadian govern body absolutely useless through the use of these loop holes. It is time that Canada close them loop holes for ever, but there is no will in the govern body to do so because they can use it to manipulate the process in their favor. So no we are not a Democratic society.

The government workers are not their to serve, but is their as a self serving process. I'm assuming that the US have similar problem with its govern body as well.

We are getting way off track.

your entire post did not at all respond to my claim it wasnt netanyahu's fault, rather his administration.

your attempt to point the finger at one man is sad

It's not a loop hole. The inbred bitch was retained as Head of State for barbaric purposes.

True. Democracy and monarchy cannot exist at any level.

The US isn't a monarchy or even a parliamentary system. It would have completely different problems.

Heh. Let's make a deal- Release Pollard if the smarmy and dishonest Netanyahu will agree to serve out the rest of his sentence.
