I do beleive that the US government needs to follow the lead of Israel, Canada, and others who's governments are defending the rights of gay couples.

I personally think it is an embarrasment to all Americans that the land of the free, the United States of America, is unable to unite in granting equality to all of it's citizens.

Times change, America won't always be the first to do what's right.

Anyway, nice to see Israel moving in the right direction. Even if certain people are screaming bloody murder as a result of Atty. Gen. Meni Mazuz's discission.

 Sounds like a fvck up.

People tend to think Israeli streets are a warzone. needless to say, Tel-Aviv is as crazy (yet no classy) as NYC - and I've been to both.

No one could say this better, if we tried! Amen.

What a suppressive dictator, Bush is; along with the suppressive southerners. Get into the 21st Century and over your selfishness & egos!!!!

Oh how the fundies must be squirming...lol, good stuff. Kudos to the Israelis for being more 'christian' than the christians.

Time to cut the purse strings....

Isn't that what you leftists want anyway? 😉

At least the left and the right will agree on something. The left will want to stop giving money to Israel because they feel some of the money is used to kill innocent people and enforce unfair policies on certain groups in the Middle East.

And the right will want to stop giving money to Israel because they let gay people get married.

I don't agree with either of those stances, but the first one seems a little "better" if you ask me 🙂

Interestingly, the Palestinian treatment of gays is very poor (which is not surprising, given the Palestinians adhere to Islamic dogma), & many gay palestinians have fled to Israel to escape the homophobic persecution they experience at the hands of their fellow countrymen. Of course, once in Israel these gay Palestinians are persectued by the Israeli state as potential terrorists. 😕

I guess you can't expect most israeli's to have read the new testament.
IIRC, most of the references to homosexuality are in the Old Testament but not necessarily the Torah.

i've never understood the difference b/w the old testament and the torah.

The torah includes the old testament, as well as other writings, but it is not the most important text for the Jewish faith. There is another collection of Jewish texts, mostly the various scholars' interpretations, which is the basis for Orthodox Jewish dogma.

That being said, Israel does a pretty good job of maintaining a secular state, AFAIK.

Next they will want their own statehood.............

With all due respect Grunt, you don't see women wanting their own statehood now that they have more rights. Please take your bigotry elsewhere
