For the last few days things have been going crazy there as it seems.

Feb 28 - Saudis Publicly Present Peace Plan , this peace plan first came to talk the week before and everyone seemed pleased with it Israel, Palestine, ESB, Saudi Arabia, Iran, you name it, the only ones not pleased were the far right in the Israeli government and the Israeli settlers in Palestine. This Peace Plan means that Israel draws back to the 1967 borders and in return it gets full recognition from all Arab countries.

I hate to sound calous or obtuse but I really don't care what goes on between these two countries anymore. I'm sick and tired of the top news story being these two countries fighting, AGAIN or STILL. It's a problem between two foreign countries on the other side of the globe. If these two little piss ant countries want to scrap it out over a couple of sand dunes, I say we give both sides the same amount of weapons and let them go at it (hell, we're giving $20 billion a year to Isreal already, maybe this would end that). Then when there are 2 or 3 people left in each country, maybe they'll come to their senses and work something out.

Again, this may sound insensitive but there are much more important issues that need attention right here in the US.

The Israelies are totally in the wrong, they have thereselves to blame voting Sharon into power. The Israelies are occupying the west bank and still building settlements, they have no business what so ever being there. As soon as they wake up to that fact the sooner they might turn the corner.

Sorry, but both sides are equally culpable....plenty of innocents dying on both sides. I don't recall any of the suicide bombers going after military targets...more like crowded malls and markets.

I always suspect it would come to a full scale war before this can be ended one war or the other. Oh well, lets just hope it end as quickly as possible with minimum casualties (preferably 0 US casualties).

A friend of mine came up with the idea (obviously in jest) of warning everyone beforehand so they could evacuate, and then nuking the entire area so noone gets it. Now I know it's a completely F*cked up idea but ya have to admit, it's probably the only way to get some kind of lasting peace- by taking away what it is they're fighting for.

I don't give a damned about the people starting the fighting, both sides are nearly retarded over this whole mess. But things like the above two quotes kill me....a 9 year old girl....dead, wtf? More important issues? Like what, Taxes, Enron, some other BS? what? And a 17 year old girl, dead....saying it might sound a bit insensitive is so far off its not funny....those children and many others are dead, because the a-holes in their country want to fight it out over LAND....

Sometimes I worry it's the beginning of the end of the world. 🙁

1) Escalation of violence in Israel/Palestinian...

2) India Muslim/Hindu fighting...

3) Escalation of fighting in Afghanistan....

4) Threat of nuclear/biological terrorism on the homefront from sleeper al Qaeda cells...
 
There's no way it's going to be a war, the Palestinians have virtually nothing to fight with, they are fighting the Israelies the only way they can.
I remember a couple of months ago the Israelies made a big thing becuase they stopped the Palestinians getting a 50 ton arms shipment, so what, the Palestinians need to be able to protect themselves. Arrafat had tanks sitting outside his house for weeks, he couldn't go out do anything - it's all a bit messed up.

The only way they are going to sort it out is round the negotiating table not with guns and bombs, but Sharon is not interested in talking - that was his rhetoric anyway.

Actually I think both sides would be thrilled to talk it over....the problem is that everytime they try, some f*ckwit kills a bunch of people because they don't like how the negotiations are going and want to disrupt them. Kinda like all the IRA splinter groups that keep tossing wrench after wrench in the works in northern ireland. There's just so much venom on both sides now after the continuous killing/reprisal killing cycle that neither side will stop.

it's ultimately neither side's fault that this started, and both sides' fault that it is being perpetuated. however i tend to side with the israelis because the palestineans

a.) are a greater threat to my well being

and

b.) should have never tried to get their land back in the first place the way they did.
 
Too bad it was originally other Arabs that exiled the Palestinians in 1967 (Hussein). A bunch of countries line up to attack Isreal, Isreal decimates them and takes the land and people actually want them to give that land back? Guess those A-rabs should have thought about that before they all decided to try and attack Isreal. Get rid of all the Arabs and Muslims and guess what, 90% of the world's problems go away!

It was a Isreali channel that brought back those images to turn the world's opinions against the Palestinians.

like reuters isn't biased towards the palestineans... and since when is CNN israeli?

The only way to solve this mess is sending UN Troops to the Occupied territories, dismantle the jewish settlements and set both countries borders to the ones that existed before the 6 day war.
