That too but most stuff nowadays you get digitally online so no dvds anymore.

I see your point though.

Yea you would figure this publisher get on the band wagon. They are very popular with professionals too. I was surprised that I couldn't find any official downloads.

#1 Try to buy stuff
#2 Pirating is not bad. Sometimes it's very helpful.
#3 If you don't have money, try to pirate less and buy more. You can do it!
#4 Support the stuff that you love. Trust me, it pays to support stuff you love.

What makes you think piracy doesn't harm others? Your jesus preached to forgive the sinners, including thieves, not to encourage them or be one of them... HYPOCRITE!

Well, studies have been done that show it doesn't hurt the artists.

BULLSHIT! I hold two patents and several copyrighted songs. I want to know if someone's going to use of any of my intellectual property, and I damned well want whatever is legally and contractually due me for such use.

Have you ever created any legally protected intellectual property you thought was of value? If not, I didn't think so. If so, you'd know that all of your so called studies and a dollar bill aren't worth the price of a single item in a 99 Cents Store. It' freaking theft, plain an simple.

Here we go again🙄

And yes, it has been shown it doesn't affect them, just as it's been shown that they lose bazillions of fake $ every time a baby cries. Everyone can spin numbers the way that works for them.

Lord knows you content creators are the world. We get it, now lets get back to the real issues.

No, it's here we go, STILL! And it IS a real issue, unless you like the idea of being a fscking thief.

Intellectual property rights, patents and copyrights, are mandated in the Constitution. Why can't all you wannbe and never-will-be creators of anything original get it through your heads that the recognition of those rights, and the determination of who is and isn't harmed when those rights are violated isn't up to you? 🙄

They aren't mandated by the Constitution. They're optionally allowed for a /limited/ time. That "limited" time has stretched well beyond credible by the media lobby. They've bought laws in direct opposition to the Constitution.

As far as "theft" goes, that's plainly incorrect, and it's a propaganda term used to influence opinion. Copyright infringement isn't theft.

^^ What he said, and I create plenty. I put it out there for free.

The process created in the back alleys is what is flawed and unconstitutional. Don't misinterpret advocating protection of rights as advocating piracy.

Article One, Section 8(8) of the U.S. Constitution states:

The Congress shall have power...

.
To promote the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries;

The only "propoganda" I see is your lame ass attempts to excuse violations of Amrican laws intended to protect American citizens and encourage them to produce more creative output by guaranteeing their right to reasonable compensation for their creative works.

If you are taking or using the legally protected intellectual property of others without due compensation, YOU ARE THE THEIF, and none of your BS excuses mean anything legally or ethically.

You couldn't be more wrong... unless the Constitution is unconstitutional. If that's the best you've got, you're probably overcharging for whatever it is you're putting out there for free. 🙄

Greedy right wing bastard.

Yes, they have the power to. it isn't mandated, and when it was proposed to be mandated, it was explicitly rejected. It started with a 14 year term, and was renewable for another 14 years. That's reasonable. What it is now is 95 or 120 years, which is absolutely unreasonable. In addition to that, the extensions violated the Constitution by making them retroactive. Regardless of what the lobbyists think, the goal of copyright isn't to maximize profit for companies. It's meant to encourage works being made, and new works don't get made retroactively. When they passed the Mickey Mouse© law in 1998, there wasn't a sudden burst of new works created in 1923.

If my father were copyrighted, he would have been born, lived through the great depression, participated in WWII, worked 35 years of civil service, and died, and he would still be under copyright. Anyone that thinks that's reasonable can go fuck themselves, and I won't be participating in that sham perpetrated on the American people.

Add a six strikes law for those issuing takedown notices. Once an ISP has received six successful challenges [on grounds that the organization issuing either does not own the IP, or misidentifies the IP], the ISP must refuse any and all takedown notices from that organization. Alternatively, six misidentifications results in forfeiting the IP allegedly infringed to the public domain.

Use a committee appointed by the FTC Bureau of Consumer Protection to arbitrate challenges.

LMAO you are so clueless, but you are one who still apparently thinks there's a difference between republican and democrat..so, there we go. Someone who wants to preach about rights and legalities, yet wants to twist the actual law because he doesn't agree with some hoodlums on the internet.

This thread was never about if pirating is right or wrong, and yes, THIS (what the thread is actually about) is questionable and NOT constitutional. A "rule" placed by corporations, NOT government. in fact, the courts in CA agree with US. Not you.

Bringing us back to what I originally said, here we go again, because every supposed "content creator copyright fanatic" on this board says the same thing, and the same argument ensues.

They see me piratin'
They hatin'

And piratebay has had an anonymous download option for a while already

Yet another futile attempt... Dont they understand piracy is unstoppable? Short of bringing down the internet as a whole

explain pls?

From Wikipedia:

Wikipedia said:
In copyright law, infringement does not refer to theft of physical objects that take away the owner's possession, but an instance where a person exercises one of the exclusive rights of the copyright holder without authorization. Courts have distinguished between copyright infringement and theft holding. For instance, in the United States Supreme Court case Dowling v. United States (1985), bootleg phonorecords did not constitute stolen property

As I understand it, theft generally denotes taking physical objects (DVDs) not intellectual property (films, music, books). I suppose theft could be stealing the legally purchased digital copies however that still would likely be on a HDD or something physical. If you just copy them that is infringement only, not theft.

Constitution recognizes the need for the ORIGINAL creator to have exclusive profit from their efforts for LIMITED time but it does not grant indefinite monopolies on everything ever made. While limited protections must be granted to promote innovation and allow creators to benefit from their contribution, indefinite or over the top protections also stall the progress of human civilization and prevent competition required for capitalism to flourish.

Who do you pay royalties to for every wheel you use in your daily life? You're a communist if you dont!

99 year copyrights on Steamboat Willie need to die. Stuff like that completely misses the point. Abuse of IP swings both ways.

People are getting more greedy by the hour looking for that free never ending gravy train just because they did one little thing once upon a time. Selling legally protected CDs isn't enough anymore, you need to carry a microphone that wirelessly bills you for every song you hear while walking down a public street. Surprised they havent started busting down doors when you dont pay every time a car blasting music drives by and you don't plug you ears.

What next, Bluray players connected to your microwave (required by a new IP law of course) that bill you movie theater prices if you make popcorn at home while watching a movie? Kinect style sensors that bill you $10 per person every time you insert a disc? This kind of shit has IP Nazis drooling.

This IP shit has gotten out of hand.
