i have downloaded a program that is in iso format. The extension is iso.exe when i try to run it I get an error message that it is not a valid win32 application. Do I need a special program to run this iso format? Any help would be greatly appreciated/

I downloaded winxp, and the file is winxp.iso.exe And the description of the file says it is the final release in iso format. So do you think i need to burn it to a cd to make it work. I'm currently using adaptec 5.0 to burn.

So you pirate a program that should be in a .iso format but get an .exe and run it anyways? Personally this sounds suspicious and you should count yourself as lucky for the error message. You should then either steal it from another location or purchase it.

I have had one problem like this were I downloaded a file that was .iso.exe I simply deleted the .exe part of the extension, then double-clicked on it and let the burner software do the rest. Maybe try that and see what happens. If it burns ok, there is a program (don't remember the name, sorry) that I used as a XP beta tester tha verifies the integrity of the XP burn and tells whether it will work or not. But first, just try delelting the extra extension. Hope that helps

That's just a trick from pirates, to cover the .iso extension in wathever server in that they have post it!

Is like if you download an MP3 file with the .class extension

Hope its helps!😉

jaylee11,

BTW, how big is that .iso file? I just want to make sure mine is the correct size. After burn it comes to like a little over 500mb, and that seems kinda small to me. thanks

the file is just over 500 megs. Sorry its been since long since i posted, i had to work all day. How can I delete the exe part of the file? This is a new install and guess what the rookie forgot to do? Hidden file extensions. Sorry for wasting you guys time, but i truly appreciate the help.

Hey - Maybe try opening as is with WinImage and see if you can just uncompress it to a folder. Or try opening the file with WinRar to see if it's an ISO that was compressed...Or like someone said, just delete the .exe and see if it will burn with your EZCD..

Johnny!
