Isnt Kim Jong Il an atheist?

Atheism has nothing to do with motivating behaviors. You might as well demonize people who don't believe in Santa, since not believing in Santa equally "allows [them] to continue to persue(sic) [their] course of action." That doesn't mean that it's wrong to not believe in Santa.

Do you realize that when you submit arguments like this, you only serve to make Christians look stupid?

Santa Claus is based on Saint Nicholas who did exist. Making statements like the one you did not only serve to prove atheists are stupid but perhaps even evil.

Next.

Did your parents never tell you that they bought you those presents, not Santa? 🙄

That would explain everything.

it's been a while since we had a religion vs atheism troll fest

i bet there's no religion vs atheism thread anywhere that ended well. especially one that started with a obvious troll OP.

come on guys, let's end this nicely with all the atheists giving the religion people reacharounds. :awe:

Congratulations on spectacularly missing the point. 🙄

Do you think that Kim Jong Il believes in leprechauns? The Tatzelwurm? The Chupacabra? Are people that disbelieve these things as bad as Kim Jong Il because they don't believe them either?

You'd think some other sensible Christian would come in here to put a stop to the embarassment you're creating for them, but more and more it seems that "sensible Christian" is an oxymoron. You represent just another datum in support of that hypothesis.

Typical. 🙄

We should put together a list of secret atheists, like Pope Urban II and Tourqemada.

The world needs to know the truth!

Secret Atheists get ousted pretty constantly I think, considering just about every single Catholic priest is probably one.

No no no. You are using the typical atheist tactic of saying that to believe or disbelieve in something trivial proves something profound. It doesnt.

None of the typically dumb things you mentioned have a book of moral teachings. So your argument is wholeheartedly superficial and ignorant.

Devastating rebuttal. 🙄

Is this all you have? Im embarrassed for you. I mean really. Hopefully this thread has opened your eyes and taught you an thing or two about the error of your ways.

And now you resort to trolling? Could you bring any more shame to your cause? 😱

Everyone is looking for the meaning of life. It's much much easier to "know" the answer.

Looked in the mirror at your ugly mug lately?

Ah, this must be some new definition of the word 'proof' that I hadn't previously come across.

Hitler had a good Catholic upbringing. Protestants voted for him in large numbers (Catholics, to be fair, didn't so much). He continued to believe in God and said so many times, so he was clearly not an atheist. Same goes for many of the Nazis. He certainly wasn't a conventional Christian, I give you that. You could argue he had a religion all of his own, and not a very coherent one.

There have been many mass-killing world leaders in history who have been religious. However for much of history the technology and social machinary of mass killing was not as advanced as it became by the 20th century.

Wasn't Hitler's birthday celebrated each year at the Vatican even while he was killing Jews?

I don't get all the fuss about this meaning of life.

I guess since I've accepted the notion there is no meaning, I've figured out how to move on - like... do what we humans have to do to continue to survive. I don't need motivations to keep me righteous, nor do I need to know why we exist to know that, well fuck, I definitely exist, and you know what, I'd like to continue existing.
I'm plagued with logic and wide-open eyes, two things some people definitely need. To be oblivious and closed-minded, is both comical and depressing.

The thrust of my argument continues to elude you. Here's a hint: it relies on your own reasoning to deduce and absurdity, thus demonstrating that your reasoning is flawed.

None of the typically dumb things you mentioned have a book of moral teachings. So your argument is wholeheartedly superficial and ignorant.
I'll begin to lend credence to the things you say when I begin to think you're capable of comprehending simple ideas like reductio ad absurdum.

Don't know. The Vatican certanily didn't cover itself in glory in its relations with the Nazis, but there seems to be a lot of argument about whether they colluded or just didn't have the power to do anything much without risking the safety of Catholics in Germany. I haven't decided, myself.

Lots of good Catholics have been fascists, of course, including Franco, who was passively on Hilter's side. Catholicism and fascism (as opposed to Nazism) seem to often go together.

But there were Catholics who courageously reisisted the Nazis, like the White Rose movement. And they didn't vote for them as much as Protestants did.

So, you know, its complicated and there are good and bad religious and atheist people.

Personally though I think the long history of Christian (Lutherian and Catholic) anti-semitism in Germany made its contribution to preparing the ground for Nazism. No way do they get to blame it all on those 'evil atheists'. that's pure moral evasion, possibly motivated by guilt.

Well you can ask all the god-fearing Christians who are shaking in their boots at the thought of oblivion of why they need God to give them a meaning to their inevitable deaths.

Regardless of anyone's claims of following any particular religion, actions speak louder than words.

So Hitler, for example, might have claimed to be a Christian, but he did not practice any of the teachings of Christ.

Anyone can claim to be a Christian, but if they lie, cheat, steal, murder, rape and pillage, etc.....are they, really?
Sure. Ask for forgiveness.

Otherwise, I'd think that anyone who sins (which would be everyone) would thus not be a "true Christian."

Of course, Jesus died for our sins, allegedly, so I guess there's no need to bother asking.

God doesn't exist but believing he does has created society. Now we have extensive law branch of our government to help take the place of god. A certain percentage of us are born psychopaths due to brain disformitys, those people fuck up their familys and society and cause most problems. Maybe you can all that the devil or whatever.

You are running around in circles and repeating yourself. You made the mistake of using a tired old tactic and it failed. Why do atheists enjoy lying to themselves? We all know atheism is a foolish persuit but does it have to be so foolish?

Christians are guaranteed to win every argument because we deal in the truth. ()🙂
