In the words of James May..."Bloody Nora!"

The helicopter shots give you the true sensation of speed these things are going. You blink, and three houses are passed.

Amazing, super epic dangerous but so cool to watch. Odds are at least one of those riders will die in the next few years if they keep in that game.

There's at least one death every year. Which comes at no surprise.
Not sure how many cripples next to that.
Watching that documentary TT 3D was enough to convince me, that some people truly are adrenaline junkies. In the worst connotation of that word.

I learned one thing: If you race motorcycles, odds are pretty good you won't live to reach 45 years of age.

One of my bucket-list items is to participate (or at the very least, watch) in the Isle of Mann TT. Sadly you cant just show up with a briefcase of money, you actually have to have some skill (racing license, FIM acceptance, etc).

Same goes with the Dakar Rally.

Watching that, I found myself repeating my personal mantra..."Oil, don't fail me now. Oil, don't fail me now."

Meh, better to "OD on adrenaline" and die doing something awesome than to choke to death on your own vomit in some crack shack.

I would love to ride that course...but not that fast. I guess I'm a high-functioning adrenaline junkie.

Me and a buddy of mine have a pact to go watch that race. Just sitting there drinking a few pints of ale in front of awesomeness is totally worth it.
Dakar would be easier. He consults for some racing teams and sometimes he tags along with them.

Every time I watch one of them come over a rise, get light, and see the bike get twitchy I cringe just a little. That's bad enough at quasi-legal street speeds.

Incredible watching the skill involved but way too dangerous for my tastes.

Truly an incredible race. Would be amazing to ride the course, but that's pretty much impossible. I'll stick to the local track and dream about it.

My Dad has been every year for the last few years. Prior to the main event you can ride the course. The place is mad though because even after the TT there is no speed limit outside of the built up areas.
