He is right...for now. These terrorists aren't stupid and are exploiting. Right now they're complaining about handling pork products; the shape of certain characters on boxes; they have issues with soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan; and they've even complained about the Christian cross that used to be on Milan's soccer team's jersey. Little by little they're throwing assimilation out the door and are trying to impose their way of life on Westerners. All this is legal. However, what I have a serious problem with is their leaders saying they abhor terrorism but do not want to condemn terrorism. What do we do when they don't condone domestic terrorism, should that happen? Should we stand by and wait until they do something explicitly illegal?

What do you think should be done about the group that is the subject of this thread?

I would be against such a retaliatory act

What sort of retaliation would we have? To go after secluded camps such as Islamberg, NY? I suppose what I am getting it is the notion of my original response to the hypothetical. I'm stating that our nation would immediately be divided.

We would have those who think an attack suddenly allows a purging of Islam. There are others who are absolutely appaled by the notion that Islam is responseible in any way, shape, or form. Then there are many shades of grey between the two sides.

The very nature of terrorism, if successful, is void of a national or collective responsibly and thus threatens our response. It is easy to select that which is material. Followers of a nation killed our people? Strike back. Followers of an idea killed our people? Suddenly we falter. Our military strength means nothing to a threat we cannot retaliate against.

In this context I've read a notion that we would be strong if struck. My reply is that we would be as we have always been: fools.

I'm not sure if we're debating or what we're even talking about.

Do you take a position on ANYTHING? Or is 'Everything sucks' your answer to every problem because it prevents you from actually having to make a decision on something specific?

Better to be a skeptic than an ideologue fool such as yourself.

Yes, they have you moron. Contrary to what you may believe, there were other people in NYC on 9/11 that didn't use the internet handle NARMER.

I was on Broad St. just a few blocks away and my mother and the rest of my family were less than 20 miles away from the plane that went down in PA. Guess what? I still think that the Muslims have just as many rights as Christians do, the same as Buddhists, Wiccans, Atheists, Pastafarians, etc.

Unlike your very, limited and extremely narrow minded views of the problem, rounding them up and putting them in concentration camps so that you can "keep and eye on 'em" isn't going to be a very effective coping mechanism.

And just who is this that is trying to kill your family? Have you alerted the police and/or authorities? If so, what was their response? I'd be really interested in hearing it.

Thank you for being a voice of reason.

As to the thread, I am completely against this "compound". However, the hysterical people should note that the people in this compound are Americans, born and bred in this country. Just because they follow a faith that is different from yours, (and have some massively odd ideas about living in a compound and doing weird stuff) should not be a reason to vilify them.

Wiki seach states that this group has been around the 80s. And nothing untoward has been reported about them.
