There are many more places to name, and I'm not even counting serial killers Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy and John Gacy.

What do all of these places have in common? These mass killing sprees were all committed by fellow Americans. Besides VT which was committed by a Korean male, the rest of these mass killings were done by white angry males. Why should we worry about ISIS when we have bonafide nut jobs right here in our back yard!

You guys don't worry about these shootings?

What does that say about our culture? Have we gone numb to all the bloodshed?

Imagine taking your family to a nice movie and some nut job shoots your wife and baby dead.

:(

I just don't like how the news media tries to scare everyone about ISIS when the real threats are our fellow Americans.

I'm looking at you Fox News!
The real threat to most Americans is obesity. I guess fat shaming isn't as entertaining.

I don't worry about either.

QFMFT.

if anything, i'd be more worried about driving my car or riding my motorcycle.

no, because the odds are so infinitesimally small. do you worry about dying in a car wreck? what about heart disease or cancer (#1 and #2 killers annually)?

Sucks for them, but I'm not going to get all weepy and fearful of the world about it.

Ask someone in Mosul, etc. to start listing out all the individual attacks by ISIS. For every attack by an American on American soil, there's probably 1000 attacks by ISIS in their territory.

Either way, that's a long way from home.

I'm more scared of oncoming traffic during my daily commute.

5 people is a "mass killing spree" ?

Fact: Murder rate has significantly gone down to record lows. Yet people such as yourself are brainwashed into thinking "OH MY GERD!!! LOCK THE DOORS HONEY! Walk billy the school bus and stay there until he gets on! NEVER LET HIM WALK ALONE. OH MY GOD THE NEIGHBORS LET THEIR KID WALK BY HIMSELF! CALL CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES ON THEM!"

Calm the FUCK down people.

I'm scared of heights. It's gotten worse as I've gotten older. I'll be up high, then start fixating on all the ways I can fuck up, and fall, even if I'm wearing a harness. OTOH, I'll happily walk down the side of the road with my back to traffic, and play frogger across interstates. That's objectively more dangerous than walking steel, but steel is what bothers me. Funny...

Oh, and fuck ISIS. I worry about them as much as I worry about the ISS falling on my head. Guns in general worry me slightly more. Maybe on the same scale as getting hit by a meteor...

Dude, whatever you do... don't let this get out of control.

Fair warning: I have a mother in law that is insanely scared of heights. Going up a single flight of stairs where she can see the bottom floor scares the shit out of her. Let alone an elevator that goes up floors.

Airplanes? Everytime it's a fiasco. We try to get her drugs that will knock her out from a doctor before the flight because if not she goes ape shit when we start to take off.

Funny, she is heavily religious but her god sure as hell can't ever re-assure her of anything when it comes to being off the ground

I'm not that bad. It's almost exclusively walking laterally, or standing on narrow platforms with nothing to hold on to. I'll happily climb straight up and down, or sit on small platforms up high.

Last time I had an issue I was standing on a pier cap ~25' off the ground, and I had to cross a small gap to get to the next pier cap. It was about 4' from flat surface to flat surface. I should have been able to just step across, but I started fixating on the loose bits of concrete scattered around(could slip and roll), or missing the step, and hitting the edge of the beamseat... I got so wound up I had to get down and leave. I bought a new harness, went back the next week, and stepped over no problem :^D

Dumb shit. I used to do that stuff all the time unclipped. I didn't like it but I could do it. I just feel clumsier since I've aged, and it all bothers me more.

I dont worry about either. I have more pressing worries that have a higher risk of death. These are very low on the totem pole. So low they are like the foundation piers :)

These things happen and have happened for all recorded history. It's like being scared of the night time. You can walk around cowering that *somebody* might want to kill you, or you don't and just live a normal life.

But then again, small town guy. A decent number of our town has conceal carry and exercises that right. If there is anything that actually worries me it is legit sex offenders because there is no cure. And by me being worried, I mean for my son. And indirectly, me. Because I'd kill the fucker.

The shootings make for some great headlines and media frenzy as the soccermoms are easily riled up by somebody screaming "think of the children!!". In real life this stuff is so rare you are more likely to die from some bad sushi at your favorite restaurant. But of course it will always be used to drive some political agenda. :whiste:
