You guys don't worry about these shootings?

What does that say about our culture? Have we gone numb to all the bloodshed?

Imagine taking your family to a nice movie and some nut job shoots your wife and baby dead.

:(

No, I just don't worry about things that are extremely unlikely to happen to me. I do find your gun obsession down there very strange, but I imagine it's no different now than it was twenty years ago, we just hear about it more now.

I'm not worried.

1 in 514,147 - chance to die by firearm discharge
1 in 10,000 - chance to die by injury from using the toilet.

I'm terrified of public restrooms.

where did you get this from? I want to look into that.

If you want crazy, lookup some drug cartel related videos. I landed on some and regret even watching part of it. They make ISIS look like teddy bears yet the government allows them to continue and is more worried about going overseas to fight ISIS, or about someone downloading an MP3. If you fall in the hands of the drug cartel and they behead you, they're actually doing you a favour because that is the quickest way to go compared to some of the other stuff they do like skinning alive, death by a thousand cuts, beat up to a pulp with a 2x4 etc...

Then of course there is the whole issue of police brutality, which shows the ones that are suppose to protect us arn't actually out to do that, they're just another gang.

Canada ain't perfect but I sure as hell like it up here better since this stuff is not as widespread. Though in my city the biggest danger these days is break and enters, but at least the police are on civilian's side on this issue, and they have caught a bunch of them so far, as long as they're not busy guarding an empty Canadian Tire store. We all tease them for that incident, but really we much rather see them goof up in that way than to kill someone innocent.

The shootings make for some great headlines and media frenzy as the soccermoms are easily riled up by somebody screaming "think of the children!!". In real life this stuff is so rare you are more likely to die from some bad sushi at your favorite restaurant. But of course it will always be used to drive some political agenda. :whiste:

When was the last time someone died from bad sushi again?

I carry a gun to defend myself against both foreign and domestic bad people.

I do not go to target rich gun free zones, because stupid signs have never stopped the first bad guy.

I genuinely worry about nutjobs with guns on the streets of the U.S. when I'm sent to that country for work.

Absolutely they are and its the NRA's. They are by far, orders of magnitude the ones pushing political agendas with regards to guns. It is not even remotely close.

It is pretty effective at getting conservatives elected

Ding ding ding. And some Democrats when they realize that as long as they talk about how their guns give them raging hardons they can get elected in certain areas because people will focus on single issues that are incredibly minor relatively while not giving a fuck about major ones that have far more impact on the things they think that singular minor issue does. For instance, destabilizing the economy will increase the likelihood of experiencing crime more than lack of having a gun will. But rabble rabble if I can't have a 50 round clip then goddamnit you may as well just rape my entire family right now because that's clearly what is going to happen!

gun free zones?

Yep because we've never had shootings like these in places where there's guns.

What do all of these places have in common? These mass killing sprees were all committed by fellow Americans. Besides VT which was committed by a Korean male, the rest of these mass killings were done by white angry males. Why should we worry about ISIS when we have bonafide nut jobs right here in our back yard!

Why are we worried about our back yard when there are bona fide nut jobs right here on ATOT?

MacDonalds is a greater threat than all of those "mass" killers.

Nuts know if they use a gun the media will publish their "cry for help", so they use a gun instead of dozens of other options just as or more deadly.
