how do you "crush" and or stop something that has no home base? That's the problem. The more you pound them into the sand (literally and figuratively) in Iraq, Syria, etc the more their message grows wings and takes flight and spreads. If you disperse them in one place, they grow bigger and stronger in other countries (NOT in the Middle East for that matter). This is an ideology we're trying to win a war against -- not a sovereign nation.

That's true, you can't defeat an ideology like you can defeat a military force.... but destroying any significant military force is a good start. You have to take away the areas where they can freely train, stage and wage war on other nearby areas as well as defeating the ideology. In fact, I'm not sure you can ever defeat the ideology anyway, you can just try to keep it out of your country as much as possible.

You stop bankrolling them. You stop funding present cycle "freedom fighters" who become next cycle terrorists. You stop putting up with American made weapons and vehicles falling into the hands of insurgents and you use the CIA and NSA to eviscerate their propaganda and fear spreading in cyber space, neutering much of their message.

An ideology that requires faith is virtually impossible to eliminate, but if those who put it in action require sophisticated logistics support? That's a whole nother thing. Rant at me all you like, but if I pull your fangs then I really don't care. Naturally ISIS can respond with asymmetric tactics but that's not new like when Al qaeda went for the WTC.

Another big factor would be to stop protecting, funding and arming Saudi Arabia. The west has been using SA as a proxy to spread terrorism via Wahhabi Islam.

No no no, the valuable intelligence gained in the raid was Trump's doing. The navy seal that died was because of Obama's terrible generals.
