It's not a fable,Jefferson laid the smack down on Barbary coast pirates..that's a matter of history.I know that's inconvenient for you.I suppose it's wrong for me to wish your heating would break.

The Marines aren't responding to attacks. That's the Iraqis' job. The airfield in question is very large. Even if they were, the amount of ISR in the area would make a feint hard to pull off vs US forces.

Why does there have to be a "Muslim response"? Everytime there is a massacre of Muslims by Christians in Africa I don't see any type of "Christian response". In fact, it's often a struggle to find much mainstream news about such incidents let alone responses from *anyone*.

When they commit those acts in the name of Muslims, ya, you kinda do. They shouldn't have to but the world is a stupid place and a lot of people will see the lack of condemnation the same as condoning it.
 
So Americans that sit by while people are murdered every day in the country and do nothing about it are in fact condoning these murders. Got it.
 
I think the point to that is... we lend our support to an authority that tries to keep the peace. Who is going to show us those efforts on the other side of the world? We don't get to witness the opposition to terrorism, our media makes no effort to do so.

Terrorism makes the news...
Efforts against it? No so much.

Our public opinion is shaped by what we know.
 
I don't remember any christians coming out to condemn the African christians murdering and chopping off limbs and raping babies all over the Congo. I don't remember a single christian person even mentioning it, as if it had no relation to them whatsoever.



I guess it was all their fault. Stupid american christian terrorists were so ignorant they never knew they killed all those africans.

Could it be that I am saying that the Muslim outcry might be inconsistent, so why should they expect differently from others? Could it be that I am not saying everybody should be decrying everything everywhere everytime, but that maybe people should chill out lest they be hypocrites?
 
Personally, I think the muted US response to this is exactly what the world needs right now. We've expended more resources and lives fighting this issue than any other nation, anywhere. Time for others to step up and put some skin in the game.

Half my military career has been served during wartime. Think about that for a minute. The fact that Islamic nations are finally beginning to deal with their own issues is a change. If we can just keep that shit isolated to the Middle East, in time, it should resolve itself.
