Is ZipZoomFly a reliable seller?

I'm looking at buying some new components for my computer, but NewEgg doesn't have them in stock. Is ZipZoomFly nearly as reliable? Their prices are a little higher as I can see, but at least they have the stuff I want in stock...

They are as good as newegg IME, and often beat their prices too.

Yes they are, and they have free UPS 2 Day shipping on a lot of items. I bought a 36GB Raptor and a couple other things from them, no problems at all.

I've submitted five orders to them so far, and all have arrived without a hitch. The free shipping sometimes takes a day or two longer than two days, but that's no big deal to me. They have better prices and availability than NewEgg on some items; that plus the free shipping makes it a no-brainer for me.

They don't play the games with shipping prices that newegg does in order to grab your attention, a lot of things at zipzoom are cheaper than newegg. From what I've seen, they also ship just as fast as newegg.

I can't speak to their RMA policy as I've not had to use it.

I ordered a DVD drive from them a while ago. It was supposed ot have 2-day shipping, but ended up taking more like 5 days. The tracking said "Delayed Beyond Control." This is just one instance and my only purchase with them. But if prices are equal, I will shop at New Egg.

Was it ZZF or UPS that delayed the package? You can't blame them for UPS holding things up.

I've had multiple orders with them in the last few weeks, and they are spot on..

MOST items are have free shipping via FedEx 2Day - NOT UPS.

I've been buying and selling things online for many years now, and EVER SINGLE package that i've ever shipped or recieved from FedEx has been ON TIME.. so either you guys are a bit confused, or just plain unlucky.. in fact my most recent order, which I just recieved 2 days ago, was FREE FedEx 2day, and I recieved it next day

For the record, this isn't the first time FedEx has delievered a 2Day package next day.

UPS on the other hand, could care less about you and your packages.. I avoid them at all costs, if I actually want to recieve my package ON TIME

I think both ZZF and newegg are good about shipping promptly. Within the last week my brother ordered parts from zipzoom and newegg on the same night. They were both delivered at the same time via FedEx 2nd day, so that one ended in a tie 😉

DrCool I've had better luck with FedEx 2nd day than UPS too. UPS 2nd day in particular is a joke where I live, there's no point in paying extra for it because it's often nearly as slow as UPS ground.

ZZF used to be Googlegear. Google made them change their name. They have always been an outstanding provider - I rank them right up with NewEgg.

As for shipping choices, it depends on where you are and where they are4. Anything coming from California to me (Arizona), I always choose ground. It is never more than 3 days.

But - it is another matter when the source is back East. Usually UPS 3 day gets here on time from NY. It sort of depends on where the hubs are relevant to your shipment.

Best resellers (imo):

ZZF - Great and free shipping (just as fast as Newegg, I don't know what happened to rileychris there) and decent prices (haven't seen lower than Newegg yet though).

Newegg - Great shipping, but can be expensive (5 dollar shipping on a 5 dollar VGA fan? ...), best selection around.

Monarch - Best service ever. I had to RMA a MSI board to them after the USB ports broke on me, we emailed each other back and forth as if we were in a chat room, they sent me an RMA number, I sent my board to them and during the repair/replace process they emailed me daily with progress. Turned out the USB ports worked fine but they had some trouble installing Windows so they gave me a new one anyway. Received it back within a week and a half.

It's COULDN'T care less. You really are a tool Drcool.

I have had a business account with ZipZoomFly for ages... from back when they were known as GoogleGear.com

Excellent prices, free 2nd shipping, and excellent customer service.

🙂

bah, there are four other posts in the general hardware forum about whether zzf is reliable.. but yes, they are great. just placed my first order with them a little over a week ago.

I concur with dtboos on all counts.

I also have ordered from Securemart.com, JandR.com, Chumbo.com, and Amazon.com before. All were excellent, with great customer service, on-time shipping, and excellent packaging for the most part, though the BFG 6800 GT OC PCI Express that I bought from Chumbo.com had to be RMA'd because one of the capacitors was broken; the packaging consisted of one (1) piece of brown paper. I can't complain too much, though, because it was the best price on the net by $30, had free 2nd day FedEx Express Saver shipping, and the site is very well made.

I don't buy from brick-and-mortar retail stores anymore -- there's no point. The prices are better from online vendors, with the only exception being rebates and sometimes really special sales from places like Best Buy.

Too bad they won't accept a differnet delivery address but the one the is on the card I pay for. See I live in Romania, but they don't do international (I wouldn't pay for that either). So I have my card on my dad's address, but he lives (because of work) in a non reliable neighborhood in north Chicago, plus he's right now in Phoneix in vacantion.
So I always send my orders to my uncle in a north suburb of Chicago, knoing it's much safer, plus he's at home with work related back injuries.

HUH??? Free 2 day shipping is one of their selling points and i order a lot of items from them because of this.

What if your 2-day shipping package arrived in 5 days or 14 days or one month? You wouldn't complain because shipping is free??? The final price that you pay for an item includes the company's shipping expenses and is factored in when you buy a product.

I use zipzoomfly a lot and have been happy with their service so far.

I have to say that I ship with both UPS ground and FED EX ground (NON COMPUTER PARTS) and have never heard a complaint from any of my customers. In fact, I get lots of praise on fast shipping. With both companies - Best case scenerio: the next day, worst case: 7 business days and that is across the country.

I have only seen where UPS has held up delivery (according to the tracking) that was beyond their control and the situation (truck breakdown?) was fixed midday and still delivered on time.

For someone who has been on the receiving end waiting for my computer parts to arrive, you must understand that it is the company processing your order that is taking the extra time to get your order out and not typically the shipping company.

I have fast shipping because I process all orders within 24 hrs except the weekends when ground shipping is closed anyways. And also ship orders that come in at least one to two hours before UPS or FED EX picks up or else it goes out the next day. Most companies take 2 days minimun to process your order.
