Is your Windows 7 64 bit rock solid stable?

Yes rock solid 64 bit on multiple pcs. Exception is the HTPC running 32 bit for max compatibility. Saved me last weekend too--couldn't flash an SBF to my Droid with the 64-bit systems, but the x86 system did it no problem.

Two weeks ago I would have said no. Since I run a lot of older 32-bit software, my first impulse was to blame that. Or bad RAM.

But it turned out my CD-RW was kinda-sorta-failing and causing all sorts of crazy-ass system freezes and hangs.

It was rock solid until I ran some updates a few weeks ago. First, windows wouldn't resume from sleep, then I would get a black screen at login. I had to run a previous restore point, but it's been rock solid since.

Yes very very stable, all crashes i have had have been linked back to either ATI or Nvidia drivers(ran a 4890 and SLI 460's on my current win 7 install)

My reinstall for my SSD has been solid, but I don't use sleep, hibernation, napping or any of those schemes. My monitor gets to shut off after 10 min, but that's it.

Crap, machine froze solid twice (no bsod) last night after I upgraded to firefox 8.01 and enabled 'hardware acceleration'. Reset button did not work, had to use power button to shutdown. Machine is running fine again after I disabled hardware acceleration. Had been rock solid for over 6 months. I'm surprised an application can still bring down windows like that. Shaked my confidence in win7, that's for sure.

^ I ditched Firefox after 5. Or was it 6? (Who can remember since there's a major version number every other week.)

Anyway, Win 7 x64 is definitely the best version of Windows I've ever used. Rock solid. I've never had a BSOD or major problem on several machines I use it on.

I still use Win 7 32-bit on my HTPC, on an older Motion Computing Tablet PC I have, and also on my wife's older laptop with only 2GB of RAM. I haven't had any issues with the 32-bit version of 7 either.

^ I'm going back to Firefox 8 because they finally have the option to not load tabs until selected. Been using Chrome in the mean time, and it's fast, but the add-ons are not as capable.

Win 7 x64 is rock-solid for me, even when running 32-bit apps. No complaints here.

I've been using Windows 7 x64 since the RC days. It's awesome - by far the best operating system that MS has ever released. Yes, I've experienced the BSOD, but they've been hardware issues. I have seen applications indirectly cause the PC to lock up, but I'm fairly certain that they're also hardware issues (whenever I approach 100% CPU utilization on that particular PC, the PC locks up and can't recover without hard reboot).

I actively discourage everyone from using any previous MS operating system, and definitely from using the 32-bit platform, at the moment.

Mine is ever since I took out my apparently broken 4670 video card. I'm really happy with it. I'm one of the four people who liked Vista, and this is a dramatic improvement. I'm very happy with it.

I've got 12GB of memory and run plenty of 32-bit apps and games with no issues.
