is your Western Digital JB sounding ok?

Ive been hearing some odd whining noises from my pretty new 800JB that seems to annoy me. I dont recall the noise before cuz I always blasted some good trance music, but right now, I dont have it on that loud and can actually hear something. 😉

any input would be great.

btw, this is different from the notorious "clicking" that ive read about on this board.

also, anyone had any experience with RMAing (or just customer support in general) with WD?
 
I have two 120 gig JB's, and neither of them make that noise. Not much noise at all, really... very quiet. I've had them for less than a week, though.
 
wow. this sounds very reassuring. hopefully it isnt the HD though. it must be something else....yeah thats it. something else. 😉

luckily, I just got a DVD burner so i can back everything up. thanks guys
 
Just because a hard drive is noisy does not mean it's going to fail. Certain people can hear certain frequencys better than others can, so you may notice a sound from the drive that others do not hear.
