"The phone tapping was carried out by unknown person or persons using high technology."

The BBC's Richard Galpin in Athens says the MPs will want to know how it was possible that special software for intercepting phone calls was either secretly activated or secretly inserted within the Vodafone computer system a few months before the Olympics.

The material used is a very sophisticated one, from a very special laboratory

This made it possible to bug the phones of at least 100 people, including top politicians, security and military personnel, journalists and Arabs living in Greece.

No tinfoil here, how can anyone be sure their phone does not contain stealth software that can be activated on demand by some outside agency?

Movies are a crock of sh!t. A cell phone has a part of it that is always active. You don't have to turn on your cellphone to have it tracked by the government. Or at least this is what I was told during detailed training on cellphone technology (from any provider) when I worked at my last job. If I still had my documentation from that training session I could tell you exactly what part of the cellphone it is.

However it may be likely that you must have it turned on to have it tracked far more easily from outside your provider. Not that it matters when it comes to your provider. The telecom industry has been in bed with government for decades.

I can't imagine why someone would want to spy on me...so no, my cellphone, or anyone for that matter, is not spying on me.
