Is your car tinted?

So I'm moving down to North Carolina next month and I'm trying to get ready for the super hot heat and high humidity. I'm driving a black car with black leather so I know it'll be damn hot during the summer days.

I was considering getting 35% tints on my car so the sun will burn me up inside as much and protect the leather from fading. I'm worried how difficult it'll be to see out of the back window at night? Is 35% too dark if I want decent visability at night?

Mine isn't, but I have sun glasses that I don't wear at night because it makes it difficult to see. I'd imagine that tinted windows would be similar.

Yup, have no idea how many % though 😱
The white '98 Cavvy I bought used (79K mi) came tinted and with chrome hub covers.

Not hard to look out at night at all. I generally like it - helps to reduce headlight glare tremendously.

Yeah, my car isn't tinted, but in the night you're looking for headlights, so tint is nice. I get blinded sometimes with my non-tinted window.

The only time I could see it being a problem is if you're trying to back up at night, since you might not see stationary, unlit objects.

Crap, i forgot to mention, make sure your tint is legal for the state you are in. Ive gotten pulled over a couple of times because of it, as long as the tint you have is legal in your state, you are good. Or so i was told by the officer. Never got a ticket, guess they thought i was a drug dealer or thug...

I have 5% ATR on my back window. At night, if the object doesn't have a light on it, it's a biatch to see.

no it doesn't plus you don't have to mess with the night mode of your rear view mirror coz it cuts down headlight glare

glad to hear that most ppl have no issues with it at night. from research online, 35% is legal in north carolina so that's as dark as I'll go. It'll be tough to decide betweetn 50% and 35% thought but I'll just go to the shop and look at some samples to help make my decision. 🙂

That's practically limo (limo tends to be around 5% light transmission).

I had 18% on my old car, no problems. You can get brighter backup lights too if it is a problem (I swapped my stock ones for LED ones and they made some difference)
