I have access to a 60gb sata 2.5 hdd and a logicube hdd duplicating device. It works similiar to ghost but no pc connection is required. I wanna try copying and swapping the drive but I am scarrrred!!!!!. Does anyone know if this is possible. I have searched the web and I cant seem to find anyone who has tried this. I dont want to put my new 360 in some error mode that is non recoverable or somehow get booted from xbox live.

Buy a spare 360 hard drive and try it, keep the nic unplugged when you put it all back together. If it comes up to the dashboard, then I'd assume your fine. Your just putting in a bigger harddrive, not trying to do any hacks, so the only reason you would get banned is if MS is checking harddrive space/serial numbers through live. I'm not sure if they are or not.

According to XBOX mag, they have tried a couple external USB hard drives and they seemed to work. May be a less elegant solution for you depending on why you need the extra space.

I want be able to use it for all the same stuff I can use the 20gb microsoft hdd for. The way I undestand it you cannot put any xbox live content on an external usb drive. Anything on it has to be managed thru a pc and then you can essentially browse the contents. I work in the it industry so I have this spare drive laying around and simply wanted to try replacing the stock drive just to increase the storage capacity. I still cant believe no one has tried this given how easy it is to swap out the drives.

You would be banned most likely since they were checking for non-original hard drives when the first xbox connected to XBL.
