Yeah.. that was definitely fun.

I was never into raiding and didn't have many friends that played. The first few years, I'd PUG through the dungeons, but I started to hate that. I don't have that kind of patience to deal with PUGs and wipeouts if they were idiots.

World PvP made it a whole new game... Then it fizzled, but I started to get into PvP with my Shadow Priest and would consistently rand in the top 3 in damage and healing. It was lots of fun!

But, a few engineers nerfs and my first born child got me to shelve the game. And lose 30lbs that I had put on, and start working out again...

But I had a blast. Ditch the BORING paladin and start leveling an engineering priest. It starts slow, but later, it's SO MUCH FUN. If you're into PvP anyways...

I'd play again if I had the time...

Really? Plaguelands(EPL and WPL) remain two of my favorite zones in the game, Ungoro and Silithus aren't too bad either(although with easy leveling now I never finish up in EPL before it is time to head to Outlands, let alone touch Silithus). Scholo and Strat are far, far better then ST and ZF too IMO.

Hehe, Plaguelands are the number one reason I'd rather do 40-50. Oh well, to each his own. :p

No joke. I hate the plaguelands. Pretty much anything with zombies and skeletons makes my eyes glaze over (I'm looking at you, Left4Dead).

WoW is *only* fun if you have several friends who play. The vast majority of the other people on your server are complete and utter wastes of oxygen, water, and food.

Honestly, if you don't have alot of time to spare, i wouldn't bother. However, you could probably get some enjoyment out of BGing.

Fixed.

If you aren't liking it now, don't bother trying any other MMO. This is how they all work. WoW is a generic MMO so if you can't enjoy it, you probably won't enjoy any others. There are better things to be found in others, but the actual gameplay is more or less the same.

Spot on. The grind to get to Outlands was truly boring. And then the grind to get to Northrend was equally boring. Partly because you just want to see the new zones and partly because the content was meh.

Starting off in a brand new zone made it worth it though.

Once I hit lvl 73 or so in Northrend the game started getting a bit boring/no point. Once it gets boring I would stop playing.

I have an 80 Undead Warrior.

Hit 80 4 days after WotLK came out.

I'm almost at the 5 year mark of playing.

Is it worth it?

Tell me where else you can go and spend hours talking to people, do stuff with them, and only pay $15 a month.

My first thought was outside, but $15 won't go too far. :p

Go out? :p Have something to drink with them? Doesn't need to be alcohol. And you're proud you spent 4 days straight at a game to get to the level cap?

As for the OP, drop the game and save yourself from all kinds of possible problems. There are plenty of other games you can enjoy.

If you're bored, quit. If you're not bored, then keep playing. It really isn't a hard decision. Your character will still be there for you if you come back later.

Leveling a paladin is painful until the 50s, you have one button to push on an 8 second CD (judgment) and another (exo) on 15 second CD.

Once you get CS (51) and DS (61) it starts ramping up significantly.

Starting new characters sucked because I'd already been through most things on the Alliance side. Tried to create a Horde character but then I asked myself, whats the point? I'm just going to level up to 60 or whatever and quit again because I hate the end-game. So I quit. Tried to come back after the 1st expansion but couldn't get into it and the same thoughts came back. Might be different if I had friends to play with but none of my friends played.

That's pretty similar to my experience too. I had fun from 1-60 (then the level cap) on my first character, played a few more alliance and horde alts up to mid-levels, and then quit.

I prefer experiencing new things, versus grinding the end-game. I really loved exploring new areas in WoW.

IMO, WoW and possibly all MMO's are pretty boring without a group. If you can't find a group to play a multiplayer game with, why would you expect to have fun? It's like you're missing half the game. Try to find a casual guild, who's members are online at the same time as you are.

If it makes you feel any better, in terms of enjoyment, you are at the worst part of the leveling process. Once you make it to 50 things get a lot better, and 60-70 is an absolute breeze(70-80 takes a lot longer, but it is relatively entertaing the first time through, just has almost no replay value).

No way. I'll take 40-50 any day of the week over 50-58/60.

Ditto!!

Also, I'd like to add, I was a former GW player from the start through the first 2 xpacs. Swore I'd never pay to play. Man am I glad my friend talked me into WoW. WoW is many things to many different people/playstyles. I have 10 toons on one server. Two 80's, 5 in their 60's. A 50, and 2 lvl 33's. Although I'm in a guild, I like to play solo. It's a very casual guild. For me, 68-80 has been the most enjoyable part of WoW. Magnificent quest lines, graphics, and story. Leveling 60-80 flew by for me. I have been playing for 3 years. I am a casual player also on limited time (married with a 3 year old). I would say one of the biggest problems with people quiting is that they are in such a hurry to get to "endgame" and burn out. I had a friend burn out pushing his toon to 80 with the belief that he "had to get the best gear". He made the comment that he "felt like it was another job". LOL.

Just take it easy and enjoy the ride. Anyone that feels like it's a "grind" just to level a character probably won't like the game. Because, when you hit 80, it will be a grind. All you'll focus on is getting the best gear. Doing instance/raid after instance/raid hoping for a rare piece of gear to drop only to have to roll on it with a couple other people that need it as well along with the occasional jerk that thinks he needs it and doesn't. Thank god they have a Emblems that you can get so you can go turn them in for good gear.

Another plus for me is the new Achievement system. The OCD part of me loves this. ;)
It's a nice break sometimes just to mess around.

OP: Read the huge WoW thread here. Unless you want to have a chance turning into one of those weirdos, I'd steer clear.

Find another game.

Are you married? If so, google "world of warcraft divorce".

It's pretty ugly.

If you're single with no prospects and a pretty inactive social life, and you're okay with that, and you relish the thought of sitting at your PC more than you sleep, WoW is a great way to continue down that road.

haha thanks for the insight. I have enough of a social life and work life that I don't have a lot of time to play time consuming games. Single player at least I can play on my own time without feeling like I'm wasting money.

I was just hoping to enjoy it more than I am so I wanted to see other peoples POVs that are into RPGs and enjoy MMOs but don't have a significant time to invest in the game.

I know a couple of people personally who had all that too and started playing the game. Suffice to say they didn't have any of it a year later.

I'm not saying there aren't successful people who play the game regularly, I just think it's really low. That game seems to breed losers.

Steer clear.

Honestly, a good "MMO" type of game that doesn't require constant attention or a monthly fee is Guild Wars. Been playing it off and on since launch, and it's always a lot of fun. It's a bit more restrictive than WoW and isn't the same open world persistent situation, but it's in the same vein and there's a lot of stuff to do.

I played it for over 2 years and have had plenty of experience with it. I just got bored because they haven't added any new content since EoTN. I finished all of the PvE with numerous characters, maxed out plenty of titles and did a good amount of PvP. PvP was the only thing keeping me interested but when I slowed my playing time and my alliance fell apart I stopped playing.
