I never looked at any wireless stuff previously because at my house I was perfectly happy with wires, but I recently got a wireless 801.11b router from someone for free and was looking at the prices for wireless adapters... pretty pricy! Lowest price I could find was $70 CND, which is what, about $55 USD? Not too far off from the router itself! So am I missing out on something or are the normal prices I see in stores the only ones there are?

Check Hot Deals - 802.11b stuff is going dirt cheap now. I don't know how much of that applies to non-US countries though.

The 802.11b PCI card I was looking at was about $40USD. D-Link 520WL or something like that (I can look it up if you want me to). The other two I bought cost me closer to $100USD, but that was months ago. My Airport card was about $99USD too. I think the PCMCIA card I was looking at was around $50-60USD. I'm not a big bargain shopper though.

cmetz is right, 11b stuff is extremely cheap. pcmcia cards are $20ish, pci cards and usb adapters are $30ish. of course, try harder and you can knock about $5 off each one

Look in the post I made about the Hot Deals thread with a D-link router for $20. There is also a card for ~$10.

Well let see.

Two people go to a Local Fast food place for a dinner $12.

A pop music CD $10.

A good music CD $18

A new release of DVD $20.

4 MB of Mobo memory in 1996, $160

Taken into consideration the enjoyment and functionality of Wireless for much longer period of time than the above.

Nah! Wireless is Dirt Cheap.
