Is wireless good for gaming?

Is it worth going to wireless adaptor for my Desktop computer?? I do alot of online gaming, so would I lose any speed, or more lag? Plus I take my computer over to my friends house, and he has a wireless router that he uses for his laptop, and thought maybe that would be good, instead of running cords.

thanks for any info

If you want higher reliability stick with wired. If you want convenience go with wireless.

You'll probably be okay using wireless, especially if you stay close to the APs; however it's a one-collision domain and subject to interference so maintaining QoS can be hard at times.

Gaming on wireless should be OK, although at times it might get frustrating if you get interference. For example, I moved stuff around on my desk a few days ago and placed my 2.4ghz wireless phone base station close to my wireless adapter, which made my wireless connection disconnect whenever the phone rang. It took me a couple of times before I figured out I had to move the phone base.
