Is Windows XP RC1 stable enough to install as an everyday OS?

I installed it this morning using my Win2K drivers and havent had a problem yet.

Try it, thats the only way you can find out

no problems here...anyone with geforce 2 cards install the 12.41 drivers? Any problems with those? My friend told me not to cuz they were not digitally signed yet.

dont worry about not being "digitally signed". My 12.90 Beta Drivers are working great. Its just something Microsoft throws in as "protection"

Win XP Beta 2 was stable for me, Im sure RC1 is even more so.

i liked winxp, but i had some probs. tv tuner wasn't working right, lost use of my live drive ir, vid card (voodoo5) had probs but my radeon LE/DDR didn't. i guess it all depends on your config, but it was ok for me. it's just that i lost too much other "bells and whistles" that i'm back on 2k now

Pay 20.00 and you can have it on CD, or pay 10.00 and you can download RC1/2.

I installed it a couple a days ago, love it so far. I'm using the 12.41 instead of the XP drivers. With the XP drivers Quake3 performance was lower, than using the 12.41. Also I'm getting more fps now than on win2k.

Been runnng it since beta 2!
Stable as hell!
The only problems I have are driver related with 2 PCMCIA cards!
But that isn't really MS fault but the hardware manufacturers!
BTW: For those two cards the Win2K drivers DO NOT work under WinXP!!!

2. Billionton IEEE-1394 Adapter Card (TI-Chip)

The NIC works fine for Internet etc but it doesn't work in my BNC-LAN.
The IEEE-1394 card seems to work fine but I can't get it to display (and record) the DV-Stream from my new JVC DV-Cam.
But I can controll the cam out of the different programs I tried (Play, Stop, Rewind etc.)

XP is very stable, I think MS has done a good job. If it wasn't for the fact that my Hercules GTXP doesn't work with more than 256MB of ram in XP, I'd probably be running it full time instead of dual-booting with Win2K.

RC1 is extremely stable for me.

I am using it on two PCs, so it must be good! The onyl problem is about once per day the USB will just die for about 1 minute, and also, my IntelliMouse Explorer will die for about half a second, that will happen about 10 times. The USB power just dies, as the light on the bottom disappears.

In the past, Microsoft has supported upgrades from RC1 to RC2 to retail.

I have no reason to believe this won't be the case with XP.
