Is Windows 7 a good investment ?

I want to buy a new computer right now !

I will take Windows 7.

I would like to know if windows 7 is always a good investment.

We know the released date of windows 8 for 26th october 2012.

Maybe, i could take an upgrade more later. in one year or two. When i see that windows 8 is more good than windows 7.

It it very difficult to do an upgrade on a computer.

Is there many risks of compatibility with components ?

Order to you, all new games and softwares will be compatible with windows 7 ?

Thank-you !

Windows 7 is very good, very stable, very compatible. Overall, it's a very good OS. I don't like the UI changes that MS has made with Windows 8, so I'm going to stick with 7 for as long as I can.

If you buy a pre-made OEM branded computer or laptop now, you can go to windowsupgradeoffer.com and register, and get Windows 8 for ~$15 when it is released. Then you have the option of getting Windows 8, and installing it if you want to in the future.

It is hard to relate to computer software as an Investment.

It is almost like asking if you next Dinner is a Good Investment!.

Computer needs OS to work and Win 7 is what is shipping now.

If you buy Now you probably are entitled to $19.99 upgrade to Win 8 otherwise it is $39.99. It is hard to take seriously a need for two years of thinking when the thinking involves $19-$39.

No upgrading from Win 7 to Win 8 is about 30 - 40 Minutes.

Win 8 compatible with any new main stream PC that you buy now.

In general there should not be any problem, Mainstream software producer usually take upgrades into account.

However there always the possibility that someone will release/sell software that might Not be future compatible. That is part of using a computer and there is nothing that One can do about it.

To sum, go and buy a computer and do not let unfounded anxiety to hold you back from enjoying it.

Agree with JackMDS - an investment must provide a return to be good. Software does not do that - but - Windows 7 does provide you with good value, and there are many who do not consider Windows 8 as an upgrade. <LOL>

It will be a computer assembled in a local computer store.

I don't know if i will have the update.

Is it important to have components ''Ready for Windows 8''

If this is so and you need to better worry about the hardware components that are put in and if they are cost effective and not about standart one OS or the other.

We can not tell you anything about compatible because (unlike when you buy from known Brand name) we do Not know what the local store "dude" puts in there. In theory it might Not be even incompatible with win XP :sneaky:.

In any case make sure that if you have to pay with OS the price does not get too high.

OEM Win 7 is about $99, if you get it and later on upgrade to Win 8 your total cost for OS will be $99+40=$139.

The cost for the windows 7 is $ 125.00 at this local computer store.

Could Windows 8 work on this system if i would take an update more later.

Windows 8 is supposed to be less demanding than Windows 7. If your hardware wasn't enough for Windows 8, M$ would be hard pressed to sell any copies at all lol, much less have it run on your phone (sorta).

As the Barbarian so brilliantly put it: "Upgrade to Windows 8 and make your desktop as awesome as your phone!" (something like that)

Unless your a gamer or other such necessity requires otherwise, Linux can be an even a better investment
