Actually, I think it will be different this time. With the prices Microsoft is trying to get for this new O/S and the lack of compelling features I can foresee a lot more resistance to "upgrading". Plus Linux is getting better all the time.Originally posted by: Aftermath

Give it a year or two, tops. Everybody here will be running Vista with maybe a couple of exceptions, and we'll all be clammoring over how much better it is than XP.

I've been running it for a couple weeks and am pretty happy with it. I don't think I'd pay huge price for Ultimate though.
MSDN FTW!

No I wasn't asking about Linux because I'm not interested in it. Anyways I read the article and found the cost which is around the same for XP. However after reading the article I didn't see where it added anything that I need at the moment.Originally posted by: 50cent1228

Does it matter? You're not going to be able to stay with XP forever.
Hmm, those 2 paragraphs leave me confused. The little enhancements sound really nice... but before that you basically say it's just the kind of bloatware that experienced users don't use/need (we have 3rd party stuff we like for it)...Originally posted by: arod
im already running vista ultimate final on my media server and desktop thanks to the free copy I got for being in their mce beta program..... The only reason to switch is if you want a more "mac" like experince (ilife) with updated media player, photo player, dvd maker, video editor, email etc.
I really like the dropdown address bar thing (where you can go to any level with one click) and the search everywhere is a nice addition. Basically what makes vista good imo is its no huge major changes but alot (and there are alot) of little enhancements which aid the user experince.
